Gets big-league call-up The Astros called up Stubbs (ankle) from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Impact Stubbs hasn't played for Sugar Land since Aug. 19 due to a right ankle sprain, but the Astros' decision to bring him up from the minors implies that the team doesn't have much concern about the injury. At the very least, Stubbs is in better health that fellow catcher Jason Castro (knee), whom Houston moved to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Stubbs will serve as the No. 2 catcher behind Martin Maldonado while Castro is on the shelf.

Suffers ankle sprain Stubbs suffered a right ankle sprain during Thursday's game with Triple-A Sugar Land, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Impact It's to be seen if the ankle injury will end up sending Stubbs to the injured list, but he seems likely to miss at least a game or two. Stubbs has spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A, but he has logged eight games with the Astros, recording four hits across 22 at-bats.
