Returns to Tigers Workman cleared waivers Wednesday and was returned to the Tigers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Impact Since being selected by the Cubs in the Rule 5 Draft this offseason, Workman has slashed .188/.235/.250 in the majors and has been cast off the active rosters of both Chicago clubs. He'll now return to his original organization without a spot on the 40-man roster and presumably report to Triple-A Toledo and serve as organizational depth.

Activated and DFA'd by White Sox The White Sox activated Workman (hip) from the 10-day injured list Monday and designated him for assignment.

Impact Workman is over the hip injury that sent him to the IL after just one game for the White Sox, but the team has decided they don't have room for him on the 26-man or 40-man rosters. The Rule 5 pick has now been designated for assignment by both Chicago franchises and will be available via waivers again. If he clears, he must be offered back to the Tigers for $50,000.
