Impact Aleman has gotten off to a dominant start at Columbus this season, allowing just one unearned run with an 18:4 K:BB over 12 innings of work. The 25-year-old will operate in middle relief and will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

Sent to minors The Guardians optioned Aleman to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Impact Aleman struggled to a 7.85 ERA over 36.2 innings at Columbus last season, so it's hardly a surprise he'll return there to begin 2026. The 25-year-old has yet to make his MLB debut and will need significantly better results to have a chance of changing that this year.

Impact Aleman has been cleared to make his 2025 debut after he required a left hip inguinal hernia repair in February. The 24-year-old right-hander is regarded as one of the Guardians' top reliever prospects and was added to the 40-man roster over the winter after submitting a 1.99 ERA and 34:10 K:BB in 22.2 innings with Columbus in 2024.

Impact Aleman is working his way from hernia surgery in late February. He'll start the 2025 campaign in Triple-A once he's fully recovered from the procedure, but he could see some time in the majors should the Guardians need a right-handed option out of the bullpen. Aleman played 24 games in Triple-A during the 2024 regular season and posted a 1.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, two saves and a 34:10 K:BB across 22.2 innings.

Undergoes hernia surgery Aleman underwent a left hip inguinal hernia repair Wednesday and will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks.

Impact Aleman was added to the 40-man roster this offseason but had always been likely to begin the season at Triple-A Columbus. He'll be assigned there once recovered, although an initial rehab assignment at a lower affiliate is possible. Aleman could be an option for the Guardians' bullpen at some point this season.

Impact Aleman hasn't yet received an official diagnosis, but a hernia and the ensuing procedure to address it would certainly sideline him for an extended period of time and eliminate his chances at making the Guardians' Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old righty posted a 1.99 ERA and 1.08 WHIP at Triple-A Columbus last season, but he was limited to just 24 appearances after a lat injury kept him out for three months.

Impact Aleman has been one of the most dominant relief arms in Cleveland's farm system over the past two years. He missed roughly three months of the 2024 campaign due to a lat injury, so the Guardians may still want to give him some more minor-league innings, though his MLB debut may not be too far away if he continues at his current pace.
