Impact The Marlins were able to take advantage of some sloppy defense in the second inning to piece together a three-run rally. Only one of the four runs on Valdez's line came directly off a hit -- a groundout, a fielder's choice and a walk accounted for the others. With this loss, the southpaw saw his five-start winning streak end. He has a 2.64 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 61:28 K:BB through 75 innings in 12 starts this year. Valdez is projected for a home start versus the White Sox next week.

Electric in complete game win Valdez (5-2) earned the win Monday after he tossed a complete game, giving up one run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven against the Athletics.

Impact Valdez was very effective Monday, notching 75 strikes on 115 pitches while tossing a season-high nine innings. The only blemish against him came in the bottom of the sixth frame when Ramon Laureano ripped an RBI single. Valdez has now compiled seven consecutive quality starts, producing a 2.02 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 38 strikeouts over that stretch. He'll look to keep the streak going when he toes the rubber next, tentatively lining up to face the Royals on Sunday.

Quality start in win Tuesday Valdez (4-2) got the win Tuesday after he tossed seven innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits while striking out four versus the Guardians.

Impact Valdez gave up a solo home run to Jose Ramirez in the first inning before later surrendering one run in both the sixth and seventh frames. The outing was his sixth consecutive quality start and third outing in a row where he tossed at least seven innings. The 28-year-old also avoided walking a batter for the first time in 2022. Outside of one poor outing versus the Angels on April 19 where he allowed six runs in 4.1 innings, Valdez has been dominant this season, giving up three or fewer runs in eight starts. He owns a 2.83 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 54 frames this year.

Impact Valdez was handed a 5-0 lead before he stepped onto the mound and never looked likely to let Washington back in the game. He didn't allow a baserunner with less than two outs until the sixth inning, when a leadoff single from Juan Soto was quickly countered by a double play. He finally ran into trouble in the seventh inning, giving up a run on a fielder's choice after allowing the first two batters to reach base safely, but that wasn't enough to make it anything but a very strong outing for Valdez, who now owns a 2.93 ERA. He'll look to lower that mark Thursday against the Rangers.
