Sharp for five innings in win Griffin (7-2) allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Impact Griffin's lone mistake ended up being an Aramis Garcia solo shot in the third inning. The long ball has been a problem for Griffin at times, as he's allowed eight of them over his last five starts, a span in which he's given up 18 runs across 25.1 innings. For the season, the southpaw has a serviceable 3.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69:21 K:BB across 72 innings through 13 starts. His next start is slated to be a favorable road matchup in San Francisco.

Allows three homers in no-decision Griffin did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Padres, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts over five innings.
Impact Griffin was burned by three solo homers and departed with a 3-1 deficit before the Nationals' offense erupted in the late innings. It marked the third time in six May outings that the southpaw surrendered multiple long balls, and he'll finish the month with a 4.86 ERA over that stretch. He'll carry a 3.76 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB across 67 innings this season into a road matchup against the Diamondbacks next weekend.

Bounces back against Atlanta Griffin (6-2) earned the win against Atlanta on Sunday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out six across six scoreless innings.
Impact It was a bounceback performance from Griffin, who gave up 14 earned runs over his two starts prior to Sunday's game. He was able to get out of a couple of sticky spots -- including a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning -- to come away with his fourth quality start of the season. Griffin is up to 60 strikeouts on the season, which is second on the Nationals behind Cade Cavalli (61) and 16th in the National League. Griffin will take a 3.63 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 62 innings into his next start, which is slated for next weekend at home against the Padres.

Stumbles vs. Reds Griffin (4-2) took the loss Thursday against Cincinnati, allowing nine runs on seven hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out seven.
Impact While Griffin did log seven or more strikeouts for the third time in his last four outings, it was otherwise a day to forget for the left-hander. Prior to Thursday, Griffin had delivered four straight quality starts, posting a 1.38 ERA over 26 innings in that span. His ERA is now up to 3.53 on the year with a 1.14 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB across nine starts (51 innings). Griffin will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Mets.

Goes seven strong for fourth win Griffin (4-1) earned the win against the Marlins on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk with nine strikeouts over seven innings.
Impact Griffin allowed two runs in the first inning before dazzling with six scoreless frames, generating 17 whiffs on 103 pitches while notching a career-high nine strikeouts. The southpaw has been rolling, allowing just four combined earned runs over four consecutive quality starts. He'll carry an impressive 2.12 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB across 46.2 innings into a road test in Cincinnati.

Let down by defense Saturday Griffin (3-1) took the loss Saturday, giving up three unearned runs on three hits and four walks over six innings as the Nationals fell 4-1 to the Brewers. He struck out three.
Impact A Brady House error with two outs in the first inning led to a three-spot for Milwaukee, but Griffin shook it off and kept the visitors off the board until he had his third straight quality start in the books. The southpaw will take an impressive 2.27 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB through 39.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Miami.

Fans eight in no-decision Griffin did not factor into Sunday's decision against the White Sox. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven scoreless innings.
Impact Griffin set the tone early by striking out the side in the first inning after yielding a single. He allowed just three more baserunners over the next six frames, but he was unable to come away with the win as neither team scored runs until extra innings. For Griffin, it was his second-straight quality start and the fourth time this season that he gave up two earned runs or less. He has a 3-0 record through six starts with a 2.67 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 33.2 innings in 2026. Griffin is slated to make his next start next weekend at home against the Brewers.

Picks up third win Tuesday Griffin (3-0) earned the win Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts across six innings.
Impact After pitching the previous three seasons in Japan, Griffin has been a success story early in the season for the Nationals. He's gone at least five innings in all five starts, and Washington has now won four of those contests. The lefty doesn't throw hard or possess swing-and-miss stuff, but he keeps hitters off balance with a seven-pitch mix. Griffin now owns a 3.38 ERA and 22:8 K:BB across 26.2 innings.

Wood's homer, García's 4 hits power the Nationals to an 11-4 win, snapping Atlanta's streak at 6

James Wood homered, Luis García Jr. had four hits and the Washington Nationals snapped Atlanta’s six-game winning streak with an 11-4 win over the Braves
APRIL 22 • Associated Press
Tagged for four in no-decision Griffin took a no-decision Thursday against the Pirates, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven in 5.1 innings pitched.
Impact It was smooth sailing for Griffin through four innings, but he ran into some trouble in the fifth inning after being handed a 4-0 lead. The 30-year-old allowed four runs of his own in the bottom of the frame, the biggest swing being a three-run home run from Marcell Ozuna. That blast snapped a streak of three straight starts allowing two runs or fewer to begin the season for the southpaw. On the bright side, he does add seven more strikeouts to his total, bringing that number up to 19 through 20.2 innings pitched on the season. His next scheduled start will come against Atlanta, fourth in MLB with 24 home runs, on Tuesday.
