Smacks 13th homer Tovar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday against the White Sox.

Impact Tovar blasted his 13th home run of the season in the fourth inning of Saturday's win. It has been a disappointing season overall, but he has managed to end the campaign in relatively strong form with a .302 average, three homers and 13 runs scored across 19 games in September.

Registers steal in win Tovar went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-7 win over the Cardinals.

Impact Tovar's place in the lineup has been slipping lately -- he's started just five of the Rockies' last eight games, and against only one of four right-handers faced in that span. The shortstop has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with three RBI over his last 12 contests, but that's been a brief bright spot in an otherwise disappointing year. Tovar is batting .213 with a .596 OPS, seven steals, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 46 runs scored over 130 contests this season.

Grabbing seat Friday Tovar is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.

Impact It's the third consecutive time that Tovar has been out of the lineup when the opposition had a righty on the bump (in this case, Andre Pallante), though he has made two starts versus lefties during that span. It's unclear whether Tovar has fallen into a short-side platoon, but it wouldn't be a surprise, given his woeful .209/.256/.333batting line. Cole Carrigg will handle shortstop for the Rockies in the series opener.

Strong showing in return Tovar went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a walk and a stolen base Wednesday against the Nationals.

He stole his sixth base of the season in the sixth inning after reaching base on a free pass, and he followed that up with a two-RBI single two frames later. Tovar has had a very poor season, though he has hit .315 across 54 at-bats in August.
