Promotion being considered The Rangers have considered a promotion of Carter from Triple-A Round Rock, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Grant's report was written Tuesday, one day before Adolis Garcia exited a game with a right knee injury. It remains unclear at this point how much time Garcia might miss, but it's reasonable to think any sort of absence for him would only increase the odds of the Rangers giving Carter a look. Carter has an .818 OPS in his first eight games with Round Rock after hitting .284/.411/.451 with 12 homers and 22 steals at Double-A Frisco. In addition to the injury concern with Garcia in right field, the reeling Rangers have also seen center fielder Leody Taveras' production drop off badly in the second half (.586 OPS). Carter has experience at all three outfield positions but is primarily a center fielder.

Headed to Triple-A Carter will be promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Impact Carter posted a .921 OPS over his last 23 games with Double-A Frisco, and that propelled him to the top level of the minor-league ranks. Carter is one of the top prospects both in the Texas system and in all of baseball, but he likely will not get the call to the big leagues until 2024.

Activated off minor-league IL Carter (wrist) was activated from the minor-league injured list Tuesday at Double-A Frisco, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.

Impact Carter spent about three weeks in rest and rehab mode for a wrist injury. The young outfield prospect returns to a .276/.404/.387 batting line with four home runs and nine stolen bases through 41 games on the year at Double-A.

Impact Carter is on track to return to his post at Double-A Frisco later this month following a couple-week absence to heal a wrist injury. One of the top prospects in the Rangers' system, he was batting .276/.404/.387 with four homers and nine steals in 41 games this year at Double-A prior to the minor-league IL stint.

Impact Carter had been put on the minor-league Development List earlier this month, but this wrist issue popped up before that move and the Rangers are now simply correcting his status. Whatever the case, the 20-year-old top outfield prospect is not expected to return to action at Double-A Frisco before June 20.

Impact The Development List is a minor-league only designation, which can be used for a variety of reasons, according to Matthew Postins of SI.com. According to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Double-A Frisco moved him to the list to get some rest while also referencing a hand injury he suffered earlier in the season. Landry also states that the organization expects Carter to return this week.

Moving up BA's prospect list Carter jumped 11 spots on Baseball America's prospect list, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Impact Carter, who ranks 35th on MLB's prospect rankings, moved up to 11th on Baseball America's list. That magazine noted the following: "A center fielder with advanced on-base ability, baserunning acumen and bat-to ball skills, Carter has begun to show above-average or better power in games. Carter is looking like one of the best picks of the five-round 2020 draft." He was also named the Rangers' minor league Player of the Month for April, per SI.com The 20-year-old outfielder batted .343/.500/.543 with four home runs and 20 RBI over 18 games at Double-A Frisco during the month.
