Opening Tuesday's game Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Impact Miller was unavailable to pitch over the weekend due to a calf injury, but he appears to be fine now. Baggarly notes that the Giants have discussed recalling Spencer Howard to serve as a bulk reliever Tuesday, although there's nothing official yet on that front.

Serving as opener Thursday Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Thursday's game in Pittsburgh, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact Mason Black had been lined up to start Thursday, but he could be deployed as a bulk reliever in the series finale once Miller exits the contest. Miller has been used as an opener once previously this season, throwing a scoreless inning in Boston back on May 1.

Handed loss Tuesday Miller (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus the Pirates.

Impact Miller gave up a walk-off single to Nick Gonzales in the 10th inning after the duo of Luke Jackson and Camilo Doval gave away a four-run lead in the ninth. This was the first time in May that Miller gave up a run without surrendering a homer. The southpaw has allowed four runs (three earned) with an 11:8 K:BB over nine innings this month, and he's at a mediocre 4.50 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB through 22 innings overall. Miller has also added eight holds and taken two blown saves.

Serving as opener Wednesday Miller will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact The 26-year-old rookie will be making his first big-league start. Miller hasn't recorded more than four outs in any of his 13 relief appearances this season, so he's unlikely to cover more than an inning or two before turning the game over to the bullpen. Right-hander Daulton Jefferies was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to serve as the Giants' primary pitcher out of the bullpen once Miller exits the contest.
