Goes deep, swipes bag
Wagaman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a steal in Monday's win over the Reds.
Impact
Wagaman's third homer of the year was a solo shot in the fifth inning. He later singled and stole a base in the seventh. Wagaman is on a nine-game hitting streak, going 13-for-33 (.394) with six extra-base hits during that span. His season OPS is up to .815 through 71 plate appearances.

Belts two-run shot
Wagaman went 1-for-3 with one walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 7-2 loss to Philadelphia.
Impact
Wagaman struck out in each of his first two at-bats, but he registered his second home run of the season when he took the first pitch he saw from Zack Wheeler deep to left-center field for a 427-foot, two-run moonshot. Wagaman is in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-18 with two walks, five runs scored, one home run and four RBI.

Shifting back to bench
Wagaman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Wagaman will hit the bench after starting each of the past four games at either first base or designated hitter while going 5-for-15 with two doubles, three walks, three runs and one RBI. The Marlins will likely continue to make room for the 27-year-old in the lineup against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to play against righties may be more sporadic after Miami brought back Jesus Sanchez (oblique) from the injured list Tuesday.

On base five times in win
Wagaman went 3-for-3 with two walks, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Nationals.
Impact
The 27-year-old infielder had gone 2-for-20 to begin April before Sunday's big performance. Wagaman has mainly split his time between first base and DH so far with the Marlins, slashing .231/.318/.359 through 44 plate appearances with a homer, three RBI and a 5:4 BB:K.

Swats first homer of year
Wagaman went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's loss to the Mets.
Impact
Getting the start at DH and batting third against David Peterson, Wagaman took the southpaw deep for a solo shot in the sixth inning. It was the 27-year-old utility player's first long ball of the season, and Wagaman has been seeing more playing time than expected in the early going with Connor Norby and Jesus Sanchez both on the shelf with oblique injuries. Wagaman has started three straight games, all against lefties, and gone 4-for-15 (.267).

Impact
Norby's injury will likely pave the way for Graham Pauley to make the Opening Day roster as an extra infielder, but De Nicola relays that the Marlins are likely to lean primarily on Wagaman and Jonah Bride at the third base and DH spots early on. After making his MLB debut with the Angels late last season, the 27-year-old Wagaman was non-tendered in November before signing a one-year deal with Miami. He earned his spot on the Marlins' 26-man active roster after producing a .738 OPS over 53 plate appearances in Grapefruit League play.

Appears set for bench spot
Wagaman should be on the Marlins' Opening Day roster, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact
Graham Pauley's assignment to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday removed Wagaman's main competition for a spot. The 27-year-old hasn't done much at the plate this spring, batting .200 (7-for-35) with two homers, one steal and a 5:9 BB:K, but he has experience at both infield and both outfield corners, versatility that could come in handy off the bench with Jesus Sanchez (side) set to begin the season on the IL.

Signs on with Miami
The Marlins signed Wagaman to a one-year contract Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Impact
Alvarez-Montes indicates that it's a major-league deal for Wagaman, who was non-tendered by the Angels last month. The 27-year-old got a cup of coffee with the Halos in 2024, slashing .250/.270/.403 with two homers in 18 games. He hit .274/.339/.469 with 17 home runs last year in the minors. Wagaman should have a pretty good chance to make the Opening Day roster on a talent-deficient Marlins club.

Let go by Halos
The Angels non-tendered Wagaman on Friday.
Impact
Wagaman was dropped from the Angels' 40-man roster Tuesday in order to protect Jack Dashwood from the Rule 5 Draft, and the former will now become a free agent after Los Angeles declined to offer him a contract ahead of Friday's deadline. The 27-year-old put up an .855 OPS in 107 Triple-A plate appearances last season, and he'll likely fill in as organizational depth with the team he signs with in free agency.

Dropped from 40-man
The Angels designated Wagaman for assignment Tuesday.
Impact
Wagaman slashed .250/.270/.403 with 10 RBI across the first 74 plate appearances of his MLB career in 2024, but the Angels decided his 40-man spot would be better used on Jack Dashwood, who had been eligible for the Rule 5 Draft. However, Wagaman turned in an .808 OPS over 121 minor-league games, so another team may be willing to claim him off waivers.

Three hits against 'Stros
Wagaman went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 9-7 loss to the Astros.
Impact
The 27-year-old is having a nice finish to the season in his first look at big-league pitching. Over the last seven games, Wagaman's batting .355 (11-for-31) with four doubles, two homers, five runs and seven RBI, and he's at least put himself in position to compete for a regular spot on the 26-man roster next spring.
