INJURIES

Takes live batting practice Rodriguez took live batting practice Friday for the first time since suffering a sprained ankle in early February and could play in a game with the next week, MLB.com reports.
Impact The 22-year-old outfielder also spent the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, so his return to live batting practice is a good sign. Durability has been, unfortunately, a constant concern for Rodriguez, who has yet to play 100 games in any pro season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old has been superb when on the field, having slashed .280/.459/.567 in 2024.

Twins' top minor leaguers deal with injuries, but the big league roster is mostly unscathed Walker Jenkins, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Marco Raya, all top 10 team prospects, have minor issues.
MARCH 2, 2025 • STARTRIBUNE.COM
Back to running Rodriguez (ankle) began a running progression Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Rodriguez has been sidelined since mid-February due to a sprained left ankle, but he's now been given the green light to begin testing it out with some running. The 22-year-old outfielder also spent the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, so the Twins will be a bit more cautious getting him ready for game action after his extended absence.
MARCH 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Suffers sprained ankle Rodriguez's camp participation will be delayed a week or two after he sprained his left ankle last week, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Rodriguez appears to be fully recovered from the right thumb surgery he had last November, but now he has another injury to deal with. Durability has been, unfortunately, a constant concern for Rodriguez, who has yet to play 100 games in any pro season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old has been superb when on the field, having slashed .280/.459/.567 in 2024 even as he was playing through the thumb injury for much of the year.
FEBRUARY 17, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Undergoes thumb surgery Rodriguez recently underwent surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right thumb, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey indicated Wednesday it was a cleanup procedure that Rodriguez had and the expectation is the young outfielder will be ready for spring training. Rodriguez was limited to just 47 games in 2024 due to the nagging thumb issue. The 21-year-old ended the season at Triple-A St. Paul and is already on the 40-man roster, so he could push to debut in 2025.

Twins' No. 2 prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez placed on IL again, ending his season Rodriguez has dealt with multiple injuries this season as he ascended through the minor league levels.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2024 • KANSASCITY.COM
Back on Triple-A IL Rodriguez has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul with a right thumb sprain, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Rodriguez first injured the thumb back in late April and has now aggravated the injury at least twice. He was limited to just 47 games and 209 plate appearances in 2024, so the Twins might want him to play winter ball once he's healthy to make up for lost time. Rodriguez did still perform well when on the field, collecting a 1.026 OPS with nine homers and nine steals over four stops.

Watch: Emmanuel Rodriguez hits inside-the-park grand slam for first Triple-A homer The Twins' No. 3 prospect is already making an impact in St. Paul.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2024 • SI.COM
Promoted to Triple-A Rodriguez has been promoted from Double-A Wichita to Triple-A St. Paul, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact Rodriguez just recently returned from a right thumb injury with a rehab game at Single-A Fort Myers over the weekend and now will move up to the Twins' highest minor-league affiliate. The 21-year-old has been excellent this season when healthy, slashing .298/.479/.621 with eight home runs, nine stolen bases and 46:42 K:BB over 37 games with Wichita. Rodriguez is already on the 40-man roster, but it seems unlikely he pushes for a promotion to the majors later this month.
SEPTEMBER 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Aggravates thumb strain Rodriguez aggravated his right thumb strain during his rehab assignment and has not played since July 8.
Impact He played in two rehab games July 6 and July 8 for the Florida Complex League Twins but has been on the shelf for four weeks since aggravating the injury. There hasn't been any word from the Twins about Rodriguez's timetable to resume his rehab assignment.
AUGUST 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Begins rehab assignment Rodriguez (thumb) began a rehab assignment with Minnesota's FCL team and went 4-for-6 with three doubles in his first game games Friday and Saturday.
Impact Rodriguez sustained a thumb injury June 5 while sliding into second base on a double. The 21-year-old prospect had been tearing it up in Double-A this season, slashing .298/.479/.621 with eight home runs and 20 RBI over 167 plate appearances.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back in action Wednesday Rodriguez (hand) will start in center field and will bat leadoff Wednesday for Double-A Wichita in its matchup with Northwest Arkansas.
Impact Rodriguez is back in action after he hadn't played since April 24 due to the hand injury he sustained while sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt in a game against San Antonio. The 21-year-old outfielder had gotten off to a strong start to the season for Wichita before suffering the injury, slashing .294/.507/.686 with four home runs and nine stolen bases in 73 plate appearances.

Optioned to Double-A The Twins optioned Rodriguez to Double-A Wichita on Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Rodriguez was selected to the 40-man roster as one of the top prospects in Minnesota's minor-league system. He finished off the 2023 season in High-A ball.
MARCH 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Jumps to 40-man roster The Twins selected Rodriguez to their 40-man roster Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact One of the top prospects in Minnesota's minor-league system, Rodriguez is now officially protected from being plucked away in the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. The 20-year-old outfielder has posted a .908 OPS with 35 home runs and 40 stolen bases through his first 183 professional games. He finished the 2023 campaign in High-A ball.
NOVEMBER 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Treading water at High-A Rodriguez is slashing .219/.378/.371 with seven home runs, 10 steals and a 28.9 percent strikeout rate in 50 games since coming off the injured list with High-A Cedar Rapids.
Impact On the season, Rodriguez has 10 home runs, 10 steals and a .206 average while walking or striking out in 51 percent of his 259 plate appearances (31.7 K%, 19.3 BB%). Rodriguez's 37.7 percent hard-hit rate is excellent, but it's not otherworldly like the 50 percent hard-hit rate he posted in 2022. He missed three weeks earlier this season with an abdominal strain.
JULY 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Activated from injured list Rodriguez (abdominal strain) was activated from the 7-day injured list at High-A Cedar Rapids, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Rodriguez hit three home runs in his first seven games at Cedar Rapids before the injury. He was 5-for-27 with three homers and a .954 OPS, but he did have 17 strikeouts. Rodriguez's combination of excellent plate skills and monster game power at such a young age (20) have made him a popular breakout pick in 2023. However, he needs to show he can stay healthy as a torn right meniscus ended Rodriguez's 2022 campaign.
