Will play winter ball
Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll said that Rodriguez will play winter ball to accrue some at-bats he lost out on this season due to injuries, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Rodriguez had another injury-shortened season in 2025, playing just 65 games due to thumb, hip and oblique issues. The 22-year-old remained productive when on the field, slashing .258/.429/.423 with six home runs and nine stolen bases over 212 plate appearances with Triple-A St. Paul.

Finally back from injury
Rodriguez (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Rodriguez has been sidelined since late July with an oblique strain, but he's returned to St. Paul's active roster following a five-game rehab stint with Single-A Fort Myers. The 22-year-old has had yet another season curtailed by injury, as he's been limited to only 56 contests because of thumb, hip and oblique problems.

Back to game action
Rodriguez (oblique) went 1-for-3 with a walk Wednesday for Single-A Fort Myers during a rehab assignment.
Impact
Rodriguez had been out since July 12 with a right oblique strain. He's hitting .254/.411/.428 with five home runs in 43 games at Triple-A this year, though he's been unable to stay healthy, having missed time this season for a hip, thumb and ankle injuries. Durability has been a concern for Rodriguez throughout his professional career, as he has yet to reach 100 games played in a season since making his pro debut in 2021.

Sidelined with thumb strain
Rodriguez did not play in Friday's doubleheader for Triple-A St. Paul due to a left thumb strain, MLB.com reports.
Impact
It is not the same thumb that required offseason surgery, according to the report. Rodriguez had surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right thumb last fall. The top prospect is off to a slow start at Triple-A as he's hitting just .231/.359/.277 with three stolen bases in 17 games.

Sent to minor-league camp
The Twins optioned Rodriguez (ankle) to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact
Rodriguez was among the first four players cut from big-league camp, after he failed to appear in any Grapefruit League games while he recovered from the left ankle sprain he suffered in the first half of February. The 22-year-old outfielder looks to be close to being fully cleared for game action, however, as he was able to take live batting practice Friday. Rodriguez shouldn't face any restrictions when Triple-A St. Paul opens its season March 28.

Takes live batting practice
Rodriguez took live batting practice Friday for the first time since suffering a sprained ankle in early February and could play in a game with the next week, MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 22-year-old outfielder also spent the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, so his return to live batting practice is a good sign. Durability has been, unfortunately, a constant concern for Rodriguez, who has yet to play 100 games in any pro season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old has been superb when on the field, having slashed .280/.459/.567 in 2024.

Back to running
Rodriguez (ankle) began a running progression Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Rodriguez has been sidelined since mid-February due to a sprained left ankle, but he's now been given the green light to begin testing it out with some running. The 22-year-old outfielder also spent the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, so the Twins will be a bit more cautious getting him ready for game action after his extended absence.

Suffers sprained ankle
Rodriguez's camp participation will be delayed a week or two after he sprained his left ankle last week, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact
Rodriguez appears to be fully recovered from the right thumb surgery he had last November, but now he has another injury to deal with. Durability has been, unfortunately, a constant concern for Rodriguez, who has yet to play 100 games in any pro season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old has been superb when on the field, having slashed .280/.459/.567 in 2024 even as he was playing through the thumb injury for much of the year.
