Reinstated from IL Andrus (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Andrus will join the White Sox in Chicago ahead of their three-game series with the Tigers. The 34-year-old has been out since May 13 with an oblique strain and he will now compete with Romy Gonzalez for the starting role at second base. Andrus is batting just .201 with five extra-base hits while striking out a career-high 17.2 percent of his at-bats this season.

Impact Andrus has missed the last two weeks with a strained oblique but began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend, going 3-for-7 with a home run in two games. Romy Gonzalez has played well lately and the White Sox have also talked about using Jake Burger at second base some, but it still seems likely that Andrus will see most of the starts at the keystone once he returns.

Assignment coming next week White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Andrus (oblique) will require a rehab assignment, but it likely won't come until next week, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact Andrus landed on the injured list May 13 with a left oblique strain. There's still no word on how long the White Sox plan to keep him on assignment, but it appears he's still a couple weeks from returning regardless of how long he spends in the minors.

Impact Hitting ninth against a right-hander once again, the veteran infielder took Hunter Greene deep in the fifth inning to get the White Sox on the board. It was Andrus' first homer of the season, while his third-inning pilfer was his fifth, and the 34-year-old outfielder has struggled to make an impact in general so far in 2023, slashing .204/.289/.265. Unless one of the organization's younger options at the keystone, like Lenyn Sosa, starts making some noise however, Andrus' starting job doesn't appear to be in much jeopardy.
