Allows two homers in blown save
Alvarado (3-3) allowed two runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Wednesday versus the Giants.
Impact
Alvarado gave up ninth-inning solo shots to Rafael Devers and Victor Bericoto. This was Alvarado's first blown save of the season, though he's also 11 days removed from his last converted save. He's allowed five runs over 5.1 innings in his last four appearances, including four homers. Overall, Alvarado has a 6.20 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings with two saves and four holds. If his struggles persist, he could pitch his way out of the high-leverage role he earned earlier in June.

Picks up win in relief
Alvarado (3-1) earned the win in relief Friday against the Angels after tossing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Impact
Alvarado pitched the ninth and 10th innings for the A's and delivered excellent results, throwing 13 of his 21 pitches for strikes and only allowing one baserunner. Even though his 5.00 ERA doesn't inspire confidence, a 1.17 WHIP and 3.26 FIP suggest he's been unlucky. Alvarado has four holds, two saves and a 22:7 K:BB across 18 innings in 16 appearances this season. Since returning to the majors June 6, he's posted a 1.08 ERA with 13 strikeouts and no walks across six outings and 8.1 innings.

Picks up second save
Alvarado struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rockies.
Impact
Alvarado has earned a save in each of his last two outings, putting himself firmly in the mix in the Athletics' closing committee. He's pitched 5.1 scoreless innings since returning to the big-league roster June 5. He's at a 5.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB through 15 innings while adding two saves and four holds. Alvarado has momentum, so he's worth a look for fantasy managers chasing saves.

Nabs first save of season
Alvarado struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.
Impact
The Athletics deployed Scott Barlow and Hogan Harris prior to the ninth inning in a close game. Mark Leiter didn't appear, so it's somewhat notable that Alvarado was trusted to lock things down in the ninth while pitching for the second day in a row. Alvarado struggled a bit early in the season after opening the campaign on the big-league roster, but he's allowed just one hit while striking out nine over 4.1 innings across three appearances during this stint in the majors. He's collected a save, four holds and a 2-0 record despite his 5.79 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB through 14 innings overall. Alvarado is the eighth pitcher to earn a save for the Athletics this season as the team's closing situation continues to be a large committee.

Recalled from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Alvarado from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Impact
The team DFA'd Joel Kuhnel in a corresponding move. Alvarado pitched in 10 games out of the Athletics' bullpen earlier this season and posted an 8.38 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 9:7 K:BB across 9.2 innings. He has a 2.25 ERA and 16:4 K:BB across 12 innings with Las Vegas.

Sent down to Triple-A
The Athletics optioned Alvarado to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
Impact
Alvarado was roughed up in his last outing against the White Sox on Friday, when he allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three across two innings. That game rose his season numbers to an 8.38 ERA and 1.86 WHIP over 9.2 innings, so Alvarado will head down to the minors to regain some form. The A's recalled Mason Barnett from Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Returns from WBC
Alvarado allowed two hits and a walk across a scoreless inning in Thursday's Cactus League loss to the Mariners.
Impact
Alvarado worked into a jam in the eighth inning by loading the bases but escaped without allowing a run. This marked the right-hander's first outing back with the Athletics after tossing 1.2 scoreless innings across two appearances for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. Coming off a 2025 season in which he posted a 3.19 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 42.1 innings, Alvarado is in line to be part of the Athletics' Opening Day bullpen and could see save opportunities at some point with the club planning to operate with a closer-by-committee approach, though he has yet to record his first big-league save.

Closing season strong
Alvarado allowed no hits and a walk with no strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday against Kansas City.
Impact
Alvarado entered in the fifth inning and recorded the out he was brought in for, then worked through the sixth while allowing just one baserunner. The hard-throwing righty has been sharp down the stretch, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings over his past five appearances and posting a 1.86 ERA across nine outings in September. In his rookie season overall, he owns a 3.27 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 36 games and 41.1 innings.
