Brewers option Elvin Rodríguez to minors and send Aaron Civale on rehab assignment

The Milwaukee Brewers have optioned right-hander Elvin Rodríguez to Triple-A Nashville
MAY 8
Heading back to Triple-A Milwaukee optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Impact After giving up six earned runs in 3.1 innings of long relief in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Astros, Rodriguez was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for the next few days, so Milwaukee will remove him from the 26-man active roster. Expect the team to call up another reliever from Triple-A in advance of Friday's series opener at Tampa Bay.

Brewers send right-hander Craig Yoho to minors while calling up Elvin Rodríguez

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Craig Yoho has been sent to the minor leagues two days after he walked four batters and allowed five runs in an inning of relief
MAY 3
Back up with big-league club The Brewers recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
Impact Rodriguez struggled in a stint earlier this season with Milwaukee, posting a 7.53 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 14.1 innings, though his 13:2 K:BB was more promising. The righty's biggest problem was the long ball -- he served up six homers during that four-game span. Rodriguez worked twice as a starter and twice out of the bullpen while previously up with the the big club, with his final outing being a five-inning outing in relief. He figures to serve in a swingman role now that he's back with Milwaukee. Craig Yoho was optioned to Nashville on Saturday to make room for Rodriguez on the roster.

Brewers call up Logan Henderson as they seek reinforcements for injury-riddled pitching staff

The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled Logan Henderson from Triple-A Nashville to help a pitching staff dealing with multiple injuries
APRIL 15
Optioned to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Impact After Tyler Alexander was tagged for eight runs (four earned) over four innings in Monday's start against the Tigers, Rodriguez came on in relief and tossed 68 pitches across five innings. The Brewers needed a fresh arm and recalled prospect Logan Henderson to take Rodriguez's spot.
APRIL 15 • ROTOWIRE
Saves bullpen in blowout loss Rodriguez struck out seven and allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over five innings of relief during Monday's 9-1 loss to the Tigers.
Impact After yielding 11 earned runs over nine innings in his first two starts of the season, Rodriguez was moved to the bullpen late last week when Jose Quintana was called up from Triple-A Nashville. Rodriguez made a one-out appearance last Thursday in Colorado but was called upon for an extended piggyback outing behind starter Tyler Alexander on Monday after the latter pitcher was lit up for eight runs (four earned) through the first four innings. Per Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com, Rodriguez made use of a new pitch mix in Monday's appearance, scrapping the fastball-heavy approach he used in his first two starts and instead throwing sweepers and curveballs on 40 of his 68 pitches on the night. The adjusted pitch mix yielded strong results, but Rodriguez is unlikely to be reappointed to the rotation anytime soon, especially with Tobias Myers (oblique) on track to return from the injured list next week and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) not being far behind him.

Skubal shines as Tigers win 9-1 to hand Brewers their 3rd straight loss

Tarik Skubal struck out nine while allowing four hits and no walks in seven shutout innings as the Detroit Tigers trounced the Milwaukee Brewers 9-1
APRIL 15
Moves to bullpen Rodriguez worked in relief in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Rockies, retiring one batter via strikeout and allowing a double to the other batter he faced.
Impact With Jose Quintana completing his ramp-up program at Triple-A Nashville and getting called up to make his Brewers debut Friday, Rodriguez ended up shifting to the bullpen. The Brewers' decision to drop Rodriguez from the rotation came as little surprise, as he had served up 11 earned runs on 14 hits and two walks over nine innings between his two starts. He'll likely see most of his usage in lower-leverage spots moving forward.

The Arizona Diamondbacks begin a three-game series at home against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday
APRIL 11
Hit hard vs. Reds Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss Saturday against Cincinnati, allowing seven runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two.
Impact It was a brutal night for Rodriguez, who surrendered four home runs in the loss. Through two starts, the right-hander has given up 11 earned runs on 14 hits across nine innings. Rodriguez figures to head to the bullpen or the minors as soon as the Brewers can return any of their six starters who are currently on the injured list.

Will get another start Rodriguez will get another start Saturday's against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Rodriguez coughed up four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday against the Royals in his first start in the majors since 2022. The Brewers are in a tough spot as they navigate multiple injuries in their rotation, so they will give Rodriguez at least one more opportunity.
APRIL 1 • ROTOWIRE
Gives up four runs in loss Rodriguez (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday, striking out three and taking the loss against the Royals.
Impact Rodriguez got roughed up right out of the gate with three first-inning runs, and he gave up a fourth in the second frame when he gave up a solo home run to Maikel Garcia. Rodriguez was able to retire eight of the next 10 batters faced, but he wasn't able to get enough run support from the Brewers hitters to avoid the loss. He'll look to get off to a better start in his next outing, which is slated for this upcoming weekend against the Reds at home.

Bubic sparkles in his first start since April 2023 as Royals trounce Brewers 11-1

Hoping for 80 pitches Monday Brewers manager Pat Murphy said the team is hoping to get 80 pitches out of Rodriguez during Monday's start against the Royals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Rodriguez got stretched out to 3.2 innings and 62 pitches during spring training and did not make an appearance during the Brewers' season-opening series against the Yankees, so around 80 pitches would seem to be attainable. He could be needed for additional starts as Milwaukee navigates a multitude of pitching injuries.

Yankees torpedo Brewers with 4 more home runs in 12-3 series-sweeping win
Tabbed as opener Monday Rodriguez will start Monday's game against the Royals as an opener, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact The right-hander hasn't pitched in Milwaukee's first two games of the season versus the Yankees, but he'll take the mound as an opener Monday with Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) and Tobias Myers (oblique) on the injured list and Jose Quintana still going through his spring ramp-up. Rodriguez had a 15:2 K:BB across 10.2 innings during spring training but surrendered nine earned runs, including three homers. He'll likely depart after an inning or two and won't have fantasy relevance.

Gets MLB deal from Milwaukee The Brewers signed Rodriguez to a one-year contract with a club option for 2026, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Rodriguez spent the last year-and-a-half in Japan with the Yakult Swallows, posting a 2.77 ERA and 67:25 K:BB across 78 innings. The right-hander has eight appearances under his belt at the major-league level, having allowed 35 runs in 33 frames.
JANUARY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Heading to Japan Rodriguez was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday and will head overseas to pitch in Japan, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact In an unusual sequence of events, Rodriguez reportedly had a deal with a Japanese team in place earlier in the week but was nonetheless called up by the Rays on Friday and proceeded to toss 3.1 perfect innings against Atlanta. The injury-plagued Rays' pitching staff could probably use him in the second half, but he'll be pitching in NPB on a deal which is apparently "lucrative."
JULY 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Perfect outing in season debut Rodriguez struck out five over 3.1 perfect innings during Friday's 2-1 loss against Atlanta.
Impact Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Durham before Friday's game and was called on to replace Tyler Glasnow (cramps) in the sixth. The 25-year-old made the most of his opportunity by tossing 3.1 perfect innings against one of the best offenses in baseball. It's unclear if Rodriguez will get a shot in Tampa Bay's rotation following the All-Star break, or if he'll continue to be used as a long-relief option. Either way, he figures to get a few more looks after his stellar season debut.
