Notes: White; Cody, de Geus; Hearn's start

Makes Opening Day roster
White has been informed that he'll make the Rangers' Opening Day roster, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact
White was competing with Leody Taveras for a spot on the major-league roster, but both players will start the season in the big leagues, while Delino DeShields won't make the Opening Day roster. White has appeared in 12 Cactus League games and has hit .276 with one home run, nine runs and four RBI with nine strikeouts.

Starts at 1B
White started at first base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's spring game against Cleveland.
Impact
The Rangers are trying to find a role for White, who has hit well during Cactus League play. A natural middle infielder, White was moved to center field last year and now is getting a shot at first base, where he could be the right-handed component of a platoon with lefties Nate Lowe and Ronald Guzman. If White doesn't break camp with the Rangers, then whatever strides made this spring could be stunted in the netherworld of alternate camp/taxi squad until the Triple-A level begins in May.

Continues CF challenge
White started in center field and went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's spring game against the Giants.
Impact
After a slow ramp up in the Cactus League, White has put together a three-game stretch in which he has five hits in 10 at-bats. He's elevated his slash line to .368/.455/.632 and is pushing Leody Taveras for the starting job in center field. Texas manager Chris Woodward said consistency at the plate will be the deciding factor, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Like White, Taveras is on the upswing after a slow start, going 3-for-7 with two doubles in his last two appearances, but White is the clear leader in terms of offensive production.

Making bid for CF
White went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in Saturday's spring game against the Brewers.
Impact
White started Saturday's game in right field, but he can play any outfield spot and is making a push to usurp center field from Leody Taveras. He has four hits, including a triple and home run, over his last 10 at-bats. Taveras has already been removed from the mix for leadoff hitter and now has White aiming for his starting job.

Homers Wednesday
White started in center field and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's spring game against the Mariners.
Impact
White's hanging around as depth in the Rangers' outfield, which is currently dealing with injuries to left fielders David Dahl (shoulder) and Willie Calhoun (groin). Dahl hasn't played the field yet this spring, while Calhoun has had issues with his defense and conditioning. White is more suited to center field than left, but he could find a fantasy niche as a base stealer if given a starting job.

Starts in center field
White started in center field in place of Leody Taveras (back) and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Astros.
Impact
What had been thought of as a routine day off for Taveras was later learned to be a back issue. Taveras had started 30 consecutive games prior to Friday. White has been in and out of the starting lineup, primarily in left field, and is batting .170 (8-for-47) over 18 games.

Gets first stolen base
White went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-0 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact
White accounted for half of the Rangers' six hits, all of which were singles. He added his first major-league stolen base in the second inning. The 26-year-old has three RBI, four runs scored and 14 strikeouts through 44 plate appearances.

Delivers lone run in loss
White went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring single in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Houston.
Impact
White started in left field, his fourth start in the last six games. As the Rangers evaluate prospects and younger major-leaguers, White is being monitored for a possible starting job in the 2021 outfield. The major question is if his bat will play. His .406 OPS suggests not, but White's hit safely in four of his last five games.

Starts for Choo
White started in left field and went 0-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-1 over the Angels.
Impact
White returned to the starting lineup as a replacement for Shin-Soo Choo, who left Monday's game with a hand injury. He and Scott Heineman are sharing left field, but that arrangement could end soon if Willie Calhoun (hamstring) returns.

Sits in second straight
White is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
Impact
White started in four of the Rangers' first six games of September, going hitless in 12 at-bats. Scott Heineman will start in left field Monday while White sits for the second straight game, and Texas will likely continue to rely on a combination of the two to man the position until Willie Calhoun (hamstring) is deemed fit to return from the injured list.

ROTOWIRE
Starts in left
White started in left field and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Astros.
Impact
White pushed for a spot on the Opening Day roster in July, but an oblique injury sidelined him. With the Rangers making moves at the trade deadline and dealing with existing injuries, White is on board and made his MLB debut Tuesday. While Willie Calhoun (hamstring) is on the injured list, the Rangers have deployed several bodies as a replacement in left field, so there's a path to consistent at-bats for White.
