Minors: Eguy Rosario heating up in El Paso; James Wood rejoins Storm Rounding up the action at the Padres’ minor league affiliates

Building momentum in minors Rosario has swatted three home runs and knocked in seven runs while going 7-for-14 over his past three games with Triple-A El Paso.

Impact Rosario hit only .160 during his first six games in June, but he's turned things around considerably with his three-game hot stretch. The 22-year-old broke through with 12 homers and 30 stolen bases in 114 Double-A games last season and is on a similar pace with six long balls and 10 thefts through 54 games in his first Triple-A stint this year. He's striking out at a 23.7 percent clip but has balanced that with an above-average 10.5 percent walk rate.

Optioned to Triple-A Rosario was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

Impact Rosario was added to the 40-man roster in November to protect him from the Rule 5 draft, and he went 4-for-18 with a run, an RBI, a stolen base and four strikeouts across nine Cactus League appearances this spring. After spending the entire 2021 campaign at Double-A San Antonio, he should progress to the Triple-A level to begin the season in 2022.

Impact With the Padres' system a lot shallower than it used to be, Rosario is now one of the team's better hitting prospects in the upper levels. He hit .281/.360/.455 at Double-A and .262/.348/.361 in the Arizona Fall League.
