In competition at third base Rosario is in the mix for starts at third base for the Padres while Manny Machado (elbow) is limited to the designated hitter spot, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune report...
Impact Machado will need to DH at least for the club's March 20-21 series in South Korea and perhaps for a bit when it returns home, too. That opens up some at-bats at the hot corner, where Rosario is competing primarily with Graham Pauley and Matthew Batten. Rosario, 24, is 6-for-25 with a couple stolen bases in Cactus League play and went 9-for-36 with two homers during his brief time with the big club last season. He can play second base and shortstop, as well, putting him in contention for a reserve role even if he's not getting starts at third base.

Padres pregame: Eguy Rosario getting comfortable; Ha-Seong Kim still out Padres rookie Eguy Rosario at third base in a fourth straight game as Manny Machado again serves as DH
SEPTEMBER 20, 2023 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Lifts second homer Rosario went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Monday's 11-9 win over the Rockies.
Impact Rosario has gone 5-for-19 (.263) over his first five games this season, and two of those hits have been homers. This was also his first multi-RBI effort in his career. The infielder has carved out some playing time at third base, sharing the hot corner with Matthew Batten, since Manny Machado (elbow) has been unable to play the field. There's no platoon situation here, but Rosario seems set to be in the lineup about half of the time down the stretch, and perhaps more if Batten has to continue filling in for Ha-Seong Kim (abdomen) at second base.
SEPTEMBER 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Hits first big-league homer Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to Houston.
Impact Rosario accounted for one of two San Diego runs in the contest with his 409-foot solo shot in the seventh inning. It was the first major-league homer for the 24-year-old, who went deep five times over 43 games with Triple-A El Paso before being called up last Friday. Rosario homered 22 times and stole 21 bases across 124 contests in Triple-A last season.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled from Triple-A Rosario was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
Impact Rosario has missed a large chunk of this season with an ankle injury, putting up a .770 OPS with four stolen bases when healthy. He's capable of playing all over the infield, although it's not clear how much playing time he'll ultimately receive down the stretch.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Getting look in majors Rosario is expected to be promoted to the Padres' major-league roster Friday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Rosario missed the first four months of the season with an ankle injury and has been with Triple-A El Paso since. Across 187 plate appearances, he's maintained a .770 OPS with four stolen bases, though he's also been caught four times. His fit on the big-league roster is currently unclear, but his ability to play multiple infield positions could help him find playing time.

Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A The Padres reinstated Rosario (ankle) from the 60-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A El Paso.
Impact Rosario landed on the 60-day IL in February after suffering a broken ankle during the offseason. The 23-year-old infielder has been playing in rehab games since early June and is slashing .262/.351/.462 across 74 plate appearances in Triple-A. Now healthy, Rosario will remain in El Paso and could see some time in the majors once rosters expand in September.

Continues rehab assignment Rosario (ankle) resumed his rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday and went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two additional RBI while playing nine innings at second bas...
Impact Rosario has been stuck on the Padres' 60-day injured list since Feb. 16 after he underwent surgery in the offseason to address a fractured ankle. He began a rehab assignment June 6 at Triple-A, then was shut down for two weeks before returning to action June 22. Rosario had his rehab assignment paused again shortly before the All-Star break, but he resumed playing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last week before reporting back to El Paso. The Padres likely want the 23-year-old to play on an everyday basis, so once he's deemed ready to return from the 60-day IL, he could be optioned to Triple-A.
JULY 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Resumes rehab assignment Rosario (ankle) resumed his rehab assignment June 22 and has gone 4-for-17 with six RBI, three runs and a 4:6 BB:K through five games with Triple-A El Paso this season.
Impact Rosario launched a rehab assignment June 6, but after playing that day, he took the next two weeks off before returning to game action. He's now played four games in total since restarting the rehab assignment and will likely remain with El Paso for close to the maximum 20 days before being activated from the Padres' 60-day injured list. Expect the Padres to option him to El Paso once he's activated.

Minors: Robby Snelling twirls another Storm gem; Eguy Rosario back in action for El Paso Storm left-hander Robby Snelling lowers ERA to 1.57 on the season; Eguy Rosario restarts rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso
JUNE 23, 2023 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Set for rehab games Rosario (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A El Paso.
Impact Rosario suffered a broken ankle while doing offseason sprinting drills and underwent surgery before the start of spring training, but he has been cleared again for live games and could be a call-up consideration for the Padres within the next few weeks. The young infielder registered an impressive .876 OPS with 22 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 124 games last year at the Triple-A level.

MLB 26-and-under power rankings: No. 9 San Diego Padres
Goes on IL The Padres placed Rosario (ankle) on the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Impact The move frees up a 40-man roster spot while Rosario, aiming for a midseason return from a broken ankle, recovers. Rosario had only six plate appearances in his big-league debut last season and, considering San Diego's remarkable infield depth, it might take some injuries for him to find MLB playing time in 2023.

Suffers broken ankle Rosario will be sidelined multiple months after suffering a fractured ankle while doing sprinting drills during winter ball, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Rosario needed surgery to repair the fracture and is expected to be on the shelf until around midseason. Ranked by MLB Pipeline as the No. 5 prospect in the Padres' system, Rosario had been slated to compete in spring training for a reserve role. The 23-year-old went 1-for-5 at the plate during a cup of coffee with San Diego last season.

Back to minors Rosario was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
Impact Rosario was called up in late August and appeared in seven games off the bench during his few weeks in the majors. He went 1-for-5 with a walk and will now head back to El Paso, where he has a .291/.372/.518 slash line with 21 home runs , 76 RBI and 20 steals this season.

Minors: Two more homers for Storm's Griffin Doersching Rounding up the action at the Padres’ minor league affiliates
AUGUST 22, 2022 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Epic hot streak continues Rosario has gone 21-for-44 (.477) with four homers, three steals, 13 RBI and 16 runs in his last 11 games for Triple-A El Paso.
Impact These are only the latest in a lengthy series of exploits for Rosario, who's racked up an eye-popping .373/.452/.741 batting line across the last 49 games, lifting his season line to .299/.385/.529 with 18 homers and 18 steals. Rosario's development this season has been nothing short of remarkable, but it's hard to see the Padres finding many reps for him at the big-league level this season.
AUGUST 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Hot bat for month-plus Rosario has hit .357/.442/.760 -- good for a 1.201 OPS -- with 11 home runs, five steals and a 20:24 BB:K across his last 33 games for Triple-A El Paso.
Impact Thanks to a frigid start to the season (.632 OPS in his first 51 games), Rosario's 2022 batting line still sits at a good-not-great .275/.366/.492, but it's clear that a light has come on for him over the past month-plus. He's seemingly on the doorstep of the majors, but it's hard to see where the Padres have room to play him. Rosario has played second, third and shortstop in the minors this year, but he's best suited for third, as he's been far too error-prone up the middle to play there consistently in the big leagues. Unfortunately, he's blocked at third by Manny Machado, so there's a chance that Rosario could be used as trade bait at this year's deadline.
