Sent to Triple-A The Reds optioned Salazar to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Impact Salazar tossed two innings and 36 pitches out of the bullpen in Saturday's 12-5 loss to the Padres and likely wasn't going to be available for at least a couple days, so the Reds elected to deactivate him in favor of a fresh arm in Derek Law (elbow), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list. During his most recent stay in the big leagues, Salazar worked three innings between two appearances and was charged with five earned runs while allowing nine baserunners.

Rejoins big club The Reds recalled Salazar from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

Impact Cincinnati optioned right-hander Levi Stoudt to Triple-A to clear a spot on the active roster for Salazar, who should provide aid to an overtaxed Cincinnati bullpen that covered 16.2 innings during this past weekend's series with Atlanta. Salazar has previously made six relief appearances with Cincinnati, pitching to a 5.79 ERA and 1.61 WHIP across 9.1 innings.

Optioned to Triple-A Salazar was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact Salazar will head to Louisville after he allowed six runs on 12 hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 9.1 innings in six appearances with the Reds after having his contract selected May 24. Joel Kuhnel was called up Friday and will replace him on the major-league roster.

Selected to MLB roster Cincinnati selected Salazar's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

Impact Salazar signed with the Reds out of Venezuela in 2017 and had been enjoying a breakout season so far in the minors, working to a 0.51 ERA and 25:3 K:BB in 17.2 innings of relief between Double-A and Triple-A. The 25-year-old right-hander will be making his MLB debut when he first appears out of the Cincinnati bullpen.
