Getting rest Thursday Romo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

Impact Romo started behind the plate both of the past two nights, so he'll be given a breather as the Rockies wrap up their series in Washington with a day game. Jacob Stallings will enter the lineup as the Rockies' starting catcher.

Getting another start Wednesday Romo will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Impact Romo didn't start the Rockies' first game after being called up last Friday, but he's now been in the lineup for three of four contests since then and tallied his first major-league hit in Tuesday's game. Jacob Stallings still seems likely to play plenty, but if he or Romo winds up distinguishing themselves as far as playing time goes, it will likely be the switch-hitting rookie.

Impact Romo was called up to make his big-league debut Friday and has since made two starts. He collected his first big-league hit Tuesday, and he also notably was caught stealing. Romo had only three stolen bases with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to being recalled, but he did show an ability to steal bases in the lower levels of the minors. If he reintroduces stolen bases to his game at the big-league level, he could be an intriguing option in deeper leagues down the stretch.

Impact The switch-hitting Romo earned his first big-league promotion after hitting .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. He and Jacob Stallings will form the Rockies' catching duo down the stretch following the release of Elias Diaz.

Poised for big-league promotion The Rockies are expected to call up Romo from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to Friday's game against the Padres, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Impact Romo, who turns 23 later this month, has slashed .297/.339/.499 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases over 85 games this season with Albuquerque. With Elias Diaz expected to be released, the switch-hitting Romo will at least share catching duties with Jacob Stallings and could receive the bulk of the reps behind the plate.
