Impact This is part of a line change in the Oakland bullpen, with Rico Garcia, Austin Pruitt and Spencer Patton all getting the call from Triple-A Las Vegas. Acevedo had struggled to a 10.61 ERA and 1.93 WHIP through 9.1 innings of relief this season for the A's.

Impact Acevedo enjoyed a successful return from the IL overall, as manager Mark Kotsay offered him anything but a soft landing when he called on the right-hander to handle a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning. Acevedo allowed just one inherited runner to score on a fielder's choice and then surrendered an Anthony Rendon RBI double in the sixth, but he also recorded swinging strikeouts of Mike Trout and Hunter Renfroe during the frame. Given he handled a 25-pitch workload relatively effectively, it would seem Acevedo is ready to jump back into his usual high-volume role.

Impact The veteran reliever went on the injured list with a lower-back strain back last Wednesday, so it's certainly a positive that he's already able to throw without apparent issue. Given his relief role and the fact he's been sidelined for a short period, Acevedo is likely a candidate for a brief rehab assignment.
