Curtis Mead - Roster spot not guaranteed Mead may lose out on a roster spot to begin the season after the Rays signed Amed Rosario, John Romano of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Mead was expected to have a strong chance to make the Opening Day roster as a backup at second and third base. However, Rosario is also a versatile infielder and right-handed batter, and this fits a similar projected role as Mead. Positively, manager Kevin Cash has praised Mead for the progress he's made with the glove, which could open up opportunity later in the season -- if not immediately.

Richie Palacios - Expected to serve versatile role Palacios will see the majority of his playing time in the outfield but has also been working out at second base this spring, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Impact The Rays acquired Palacios in a trade with the Cardinals this winter. Across two big-league seasons, he's played nearly exclusively in the outfield, though in typical fashion the Rays want to create as much versatility on their roster as possible. Palacios' fit at second base in particular is curious, as he hits lefty as does projected primary starter Brandon Lowe.

Alex Faedo - Has uneven spring debut Faedo allowed two runs on four hits across two innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. He struck out three.
Impact The strikeouts were nice, but Faedo was also too hittable, with the key blow a home run by Yu Chang. Faedo appeared in 15 games for the Tigers in 2023, with 12 starts, but he's likely been pushed out of a rotation spot due to the offseason additions of Kenta Maeda and Jack Flaherty, as well as several other pitchers getting healthy. Faedo will instead look to snag a bullpen role coming out of spring training. The righty won't be on the fantasy radar as a middle reliever.
