‘Good to see him smile’: Red Sox happy for Franchy Cordero after he broke 0-for-25 slump "He looked confident and relaxed and swung at good pitches."
MAY 7, 2021 BOSTON.COM
Franchy Cordero - Hot day at the plate Cordero went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI during Thursday's victory over the Tigers.
Impact Cordero came in to replace Enrique Hernandez after he limped off the field following an RBI single to lead off the bottom of the first. The 26-year-old contributed during his first at-bat in the second inning with an RBI double. He also singled and scored in the sixth. To top it off, with the score knotted in the eighth, Cordero brought in the go-ahead run when a fielding error by Jeimer Candelario allowed him to reach first. It was a promising spark off the bench for Cordero, who had been in an 0-for-25 slump dating back to April 19.

Nathan Eovaldi - Struggles in no-decision Eovaldi allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings in a victory over Detroit on Thursday. He didn't factor into the decision.
Impact Facing the Tigers for the first time since 2015, Eovaldi just couldn't find a way to silence their bats. The 31-year-old gave-up a season-worst six runs during his shortest start of the year. It was the first time this year Eovaldi was unable to pitch at least five innings. Luckily, his teammates made up for it offensively, racking up 12 runs en route to the win. The right-hander will bring a 4.62 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into his next projected start Tuesday against Oakland.

Adam Ottavino - Secures first save Ottavino allowed one walk in a scoreless inning to record a save against the Tigers on Thursday.
Impact With the Red Sox leading 12-9 in the ninth, Ottavino nailed down his first save opportunity of the year, working around one free pass while holding the Tigers hitless. Matt Barnes had pitched the last two games and was presumably getting a breather before the weekend. Over 13 innings this season, Ottavino has compiled a 4.15 ERA and 1.54 WHIP.

Spencer Turnbull - Short outing in no-decision Turnbull surrendered four runs (two earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out three across three innings during Thursday's loss to the Red Sox. He did not factor into t...
Impact While Turnbull managed to avoid any extensive damage, he did allow a run in each of his innings during what turned out to be his shortest outing of the season. The 28-year-old did not issue any walks for the second time this year, but the upside ends there. After missing the first three weeks, Turnbull has compiled a 4.74 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across four starts.
