INJURIES

Forearm issues return Nunez wasn't available for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks due to forearm tightness, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact Nunez returned from the injured list Friday after spending nearly a month on the shelf due to a right forearm strain. He went 1.2 innings and struck out three batters during his first appearance back Saturday, but manager Carlos Mendoza said the 28-year-old reliever hasn't recovered properly from the outing and is once again experiencing forearm problems. He's considered day-to-day for now, though the Mets will likely want to take a closer look at him to determine if he'll need to make another trip to the IL.
AUGUST 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Officially reinstated The Mets reinstated Nunez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Impact As expected, Nunez will come off the injured list Friday after spending almost a month on the shelf with a pronator strain in his right forearm. Prior to the injury, Nunez logged a 2.43 ERA with nine holds across 33.1 innings for the Mets. Huascar Brazoban was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.
AUGUST 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to return Friday Nunez (forearm) is expected to be activated from the injured list Friday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Nunez made a rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday and threw a scoreless inning. He's flying to meet the Mets for their road trip in San Diego and is set to be activated assuming he can get through another throwing session without issue.

AUGUST 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Ready for rehab assignment Nunez (forearm) has been sent to Triple-A Syracuse to begin a rehab assignment.
Impact Nunez has missed nearly a month of action with a pronator strain in his right forearm but is ready to ramp things back up in a game setting. The right-handed reliever will probably need at least a couple rehab appearances but is tracking toward a return before the end of the month.
AUGUST 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Faces hitters, assignment nearing Nunez (forearm) threw 20 pitches of live batting practice Friday and expects to begin a rehab assignment next, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
Impact Nunez went up against batters for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 26 and left the session without a setback. While it's unclear when he'll be shipped out for a minor-league rehab assignment, the 28-year-old expects a rehab stint to be the next step in his recovery from a strained right forearm.
AUGUST 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Starting mound work Nunez (forearm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Nunez hasn't thrown a bullpen since going on the shelf July 26, so Sunday's session marks a significant step in the 28-year-old's recovery from a strained right forearm. Nunez became eligible for reinstatement Thursday and was initially expected to be back shortly after the minimum 15 days. However, he's behind schedule and will likely require multiple bullpens before being activated.

Absence expected to be brief Nunez (forearm) isn't expected to have much more than a minimum stay on the 15-day injured list, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact Nunez landed on the IL earlier Friday with a pronator strain in his right forearm, but Mets manager Carlos Mendoza admitted to being relieved that the reliever didn't have any ligament damage. The righty will be eligible to return Aug. 8 and it sounds like he might be back by that date, or shortly after.

Absence expected to be brief Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Friday that the expectation is Nunez's (forearm) stay on the 15-day injured list will be short, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

JULY 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Lands on injured list The Mets placed Nunez on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to June 24, with a right pronator strain in his right forearm.
Impact It's unclear when the right-hander actually sustained the injury, but he made his last appearance Tuesday against the Yankees and delivered a scoreless inning. Nunez will be eligible to be reinstated August 8, though a longer absence wouldn't be surprising given the nature of the injury.
JULY 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Records two-inning save Nunez earned a save against the Rockies on Saturday, striking out three batters over two perfect frames.
Impact Nunez entered in the eighth inning in a tight situation with New York up one run and runners on first and second base with no outs. He induced a double play and a foul out to impressively escape the jam, then watched the Mets score three times in the bottom of the frame. The right-hander returned for the ninth and struck out all three batters he faced to cap his first big-league save. Nunez isn't likely to see many more save opportunities with Edwin Diaz established as New York's closer, but the rookie has nonetheless worked his way up to high-leverage work with an impressive campaign during which he's recorded a 2.35 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 39:5 K:BB through 30.2 frames. In addition to Saturday's save, he's registered seven holds and two wins through 21 outings.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Battling sinus infection Nunez hasn't pitched since June 15, and Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated earlier this week that the right-hander was dealing with a sinus infection, SNY reports.
Impact After bouncing between Triple-A and the big-league roster in April and May, Nunez settled in following his latest promotion and is having a breakout campaign in the Mets' bullpen, posting a 2.04 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 26:3 K:BB through 17.2 innings while generating a 42.2 percent whiff rate with his slider. The 28-year-old has four holds on the season, all of which have come in his last six appearances as he works his way into a high-leverage role. Once he's recovered from the infection, Nunez could emerge as a top set-up man for closer Edwin Diaz.
JUNE 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled from Triple-A The Mets recalled Nunez from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Impact Nunez has allowed three runs while boasting a 13:3 K:BB over 8.1 innings out of the Mets' bullpen this season. He will operate in middle relief.
MAY 31, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Heads back to Triple-A The Mets returned Nunez to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.
Impact As expected, Nunez will head back to Syracuse one day after he was called up to serve as the 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers. Nunez appeared in relief in the Mets' 3-0 loss in the second game of the twin bill, covering two scoreless innings while giving up one hit and one walk and striking out three.
MAY 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Up as 27th man The Mets recalled Nunez from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact Nunez will serve as the Mets' 27th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers and will be available for both games. The right-handed reliever has made four appearances with the big club this season, allowing three runs with a 10:2 K:BB over 6.1 frames. He will likely be sent back down after the doubleheader.
MAY 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Returned to Mets Nunez (elbow) was returned to the Mets on Friday.
Impact The 2021 Rule 5 selection needed Tommy John surgery and the Giants no longer want to keep him on the 40-man roster. He could return to the mound sometime next summer.
