INJURIES

Solid in no-decision Daniel did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over five innings while striking out five.
Impact Daniel got himself in trouble in the opening frame when he allowed three of the first five batters to reach, leading to one run coming home for Colorado. However, the right-hander settled in from that point on, hurling four shutout innings before being relieved by Jose Marte at the start of the sixth. Daniel had allowed at least four runs in each of his previous two starts coming in but now holds a robust 19:2 K:BB on the season. Daniel is expected to take the mound again next week against the Yankees in New York, assuming he earned himself at least another start with Wednesday's solid performance.
AUGUST 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Receiving start Wednesday Daniel is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies in Anaheim.
Impact The Halos brought Daniel up from Triple-A Salt Lake this past Friday, but after he wasn't needed in relief for any of the club's ensuing four contests, he'll step into the rotation spot that briefly belonged to Kenny Rosenberg. Daniel owns a 5.82 ERA over 17 innings in the majors this season, but his underlying metrics (3.69 SIERA, 4.35 xERA, 18.8 K-BB%) offer hope that he'll turn in better surface numbers moving forward.

Brought up to majors The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
Impact Daniel will replace Kenny Rosenberg, who surrendered six runs in a start Thursday, in the back end of the Angels rotation. Daniel has made three starts with the Angels this season, landing a 5.82 ERA with a 14:1 K:BB across 17,0 innings. Assuming he fills Rosenberg's spot, Daniel would be in line for a home start against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Sent back to minors The Angels optioned Daniel to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Daniel completed eight scoreless innings in his first major-league start late last month, but in two outings since then he allowed 12 runs (11 earned) over nine innings. He could return at some point after the All-Star break, but for now Daniel will cede his rotation spot to Jack Kochanowicz.
JULY 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Lassoed by Rangers Daniel (1-2) took the loss against Texas on Monday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out three batters over 3.2 innings.
Impact Daniel served up a two-run homer to Corey Seager in the first inning, then made it through the next two frames unscathed. However, he fell apart in the fourth, allowing five hits and plunking a batter before being pulled with two outs after the Rangers racked up five runs. Daniel had a magical first outing of the campaign when he struck out eight over eight scoreless innings against Detroit on June 27, but he's struggled since, giving up 12 runs (11 earned) over nine innings across his subsequent two appearances.
JULY 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Serves up two homers in loss Daniel (1-1) took the loss against the Athletics on Wednesday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
Impact Daniel allowed baserunners in five of the six frames in which he appeared and was finally chased from the game after giving up solo homers in both the fifth and sixth innings. The right-hander was unable to recreate the magic from his first start when he shut out the Tigers over eight frames, though he'll look to rebound next week when the Angels travel back home to take on the Rangers.
JULY 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Getting another start Wednesday Daniel is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Athletics in Oakland, Doug Padilla of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact The Halos will get some reinforcement to their rotation with Jose Soriano (abdomen) on track to come off the 15-day injured list Tuesday to start the series opener in Oakland, but Daniel did enough in his first MLB start last Thursday versus Detroit to earn another turn. After getting called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to aid a rotation that had been hit hard by injuries of late, Daniel proceeded to deliver eight shutout innings while striking out eight and giving up only four hits and no walks. The matchup with a weak Athletics offense at a pitcher-friendly venue in Oakland offers an ideal setup for Daniel to come through with another quality start.

Set to start Thursday Daniel will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Daniel has spent the duration of the season at Salt Lake, posting a 5.33 ERA but an 82:25 K:BB across 76 innings covering 14 starts. The 27-year-old right-hander appeared in three games out of the Angels' bullpen in 2023, allowing three runs with a 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 frames. With Patrick Sandoval (elbow) out for the season and Jose Soriano (abdomen) still out, Daniel could get a chance to take multiple turns in the Angels' rotation.
JUNE 26, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back in majors The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact The 26-year-old had a one-day stint in the majors in late April but didn't see game action. Daniel made three appearances for the Angels last season and posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 innings.
MAY 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Brought back to big club The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
Impact Daniel was optioned to Triple-A during spring training. He's started in five games with Salt Lake, going 0-3 while recording a 6.08 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB over 23.2 innings. To make room for Daniel, the Angels optioned right-hander Zac Kristofak to Triple-A Salt Lake following Sunday's loss to the Twins.

Earns first win Daniel (1-1) yielded two hits and a walk over five shutout frames Friday, striking out two and earning a win over Oakland.
Impact Daniel finished the game after Chase Silseth allowed one run through four frames. Daniel threw 47 of 61 pitches for strikes and worked around the only threat he faced in the ninth inning. The 26-year-old rookie registered a 2.19 ERA across 12.1 MLB frames since being promoted in early September. Daniel also posted a 2.15 ERA through 29.1 minor-league innings in 2023.

Daniel gets first major league win as Angels beat A's 5-1 in Oakland's 111th loss

Davis Daniel pitched five scoreless innings for his first major league win, helping the Los Angeles Angels beat Oakland 5-1 and sending the Athletics to their 111th loss
SEPTEMBER 30, 2023 • Associated Press
Handed first loss Daniel (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Twins.
Impact Daniel took over for Jose Suarez in the second inning and was handed his first MLB loss after serving up a solo homer to Alex Kirilloff in the sixth. Daniel also allowed a pair of runs in the fourth inning while struggling with his command. He threw just 48 strikes on 91 pitches and has now walked eight batters in 7.1 career MLB innings. Daniel also walked seven batters in his last appearance with Triple-A Salt Lake.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Officially recalled The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to pitch against Minnesota.
Impact Davis' last appearance came on Sept. 13 with Salt Lake, where he surrendered two runs on two hits and seven walks over the course of four innings. He has yet to allow a run in the majors through three frames, but recent issues with command could cause him to get into trouble as he pitches bulk innings Friday. Aaron Loup (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.
SEPTEMBER 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Will be recalled Friday Daniel will be recalled by the Angels to pitch Friday in Minnesota, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact He could be used as a traditional starter or bulk reliever following an opener, but either way Daniel is slated to handle most of the workload for the Halos. Tyler Anderson (knee) had been slated to start but is being pushed back. Daniel tossed three scoreless relief innings in his major-league debut earlier this month.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Demoted to Salt Lake The Angels optioned Daniel to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
Impact A day after tossing three scoreless frames out of the bullpen in his major-league debut, Daniel will head back to the minors and likely finish the season in Triple-A. Outfielder Jordyn Adams was recalled from Salt Lake in a corresponding move to fill Daniel's roster spot.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Impresses in big-league debut Daniel pitched three scoreless innings in relief against Cleveland on Thursday, allowing two hits while issuing three walks and striking out one batter.
Impact Daniel got the call to the big leagues after notching a 1.77 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 28:5 K:BB across 20.1 innings over four starts with Triple-A Inland Empire. The right-hander was a bit wild with three walks and a wild pitch in his major-league debut, but he worked out of a few jams to hold the Guardians scoreless while throwing a team-high 66 pitches in a bullpen game for Los Angeles. It's unclear if Daniel will remain in a bulk-relief role moving forward, and it's possible that he heads back to the minors whenever Chase Silseth (concussion) is able to return to the mound.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Contract selected Daniel had his contract selected by the Angels on Thursday.
Impact Daniel was expected to draw the start against the Guardians on Thursday, though Jhonathan Diaz will get the nod instead. It's still possible that Daniel will take the mound for multiple frames, however, as he's worked at least five innings in each of his last three appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake. In four starts at the level, he maintained a 1.77 ERA and 1.00 WHIP to go along with an impressive 28:5 K:BB across 20.1 innings.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On way to big leagues Daniel will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake by the Angels on Thursday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact Blum implies that Daniel is likely to start Thursday against the Guardians, as the Angels currently don't have a starter listed. Daniel has been limited to just six rehab starts this season after coming back from a shoulder injury, but he's been excellent in those outings with a 1.78 ERA and 37:5 K:BB over 25.1 innings between the Arizona Complex League and Low-A Inland Empire. He had been slated to make his next start with Salt Lake, but the Halos have a need so he'll take the ball with the big club instead. Daniel was on the Angels' active roster briefly last season but didn't make an appearance, so this will be his major-league debut.
SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Activated, optioned to Triple-A The Angels reinstated Daniel (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Impact Daniel logged a 1.78 ERA and 0.95 WHIP alongside a 37:5 K:BB during his rehab assignment across rookie and High-A ball. He's been on the injured list since February due to a strained right shoulder, and the Angels will allow him to keep developing in Triple-A rather than adding him to their major-league rotation. He put up a 4.49 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 102.1 innings with Triple-A Salt Lake in 2022.
AUGUST 31, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out 10 in rehab start Daniel (shoulder) struck out 10 and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in his latest rehab start Tuesday for Single-A Inland Empire.
Impact Daniel made the sixth start of his rehab assignment Tuesday and his fourth in a row in the California League, where he's produced a 1.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP while striking out 28 over 20.1 innings. With the right-hander's 30-day rehab window nearing its end, he should be activated from the Angels' 60-day injured list within the next few days. However, since the 26-year-old right-hander has yet to make his MLB debut, the Angels may not be willing to include him in the big-league rotation right away and could instead option him to either Double-A Rocket City or Triple-A Salt Lake upon his reinstatement.
