Braves add another OF, claim Heredia off waivers from Mets

The Atlanta Braves have claimed outfielder Guillermo Heredia off waivers from the New York Mets

Designated for assignment Mayfield was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Wednesday.

Impact Mayfield was claimed off waivers in November, but he'll now be cast off the 40-man roster after the team claimed outfielder Guillermo Heredia off waivers Wednesday. Mayfield appeared in 21 games for the Astros last season and hit .190 with three RBI.

Not needed in ALDS Mayfield was dropped from the Astros' roster ahead of the division series against the Athletics, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Impact Mayfield did not play a part in either wild-card game against the Twins, so it's no surprise that he was deemed surplus to requirements heading into the next round. The Astros will add a reliever, Luis Garcia, in his place.
