Shelved with oblique strain The Marlins placed Myers on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right oblique strain.
Impact The severity of Myers' oblique strain won't be known until the results of his MRI are available, but he'll be out for at least the next week and a half after suffering the injury at some point over the weekend. Before getting hurt, Myers had been thriving as the Marlins' primary center fielder with a .340/.386/.528 slash line to go with three home runs and six stolen bases since mid-April. The Marlins reinstated Derek Hill (wrist) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move, and he could end up seeing the bulk of the reps in center while Myers is on the shelf.

Impact Myers was given Sunday off after starting eight games in a row, but he may be dealing with some sort of injury. It's unclear what the outfielder is dealing with, but whatever it is caused the Marlins to feel like they needed a better look. If Myers is forced to miss any action moving forward, Kyle Stowers and Derek Hill (wrist) would stand to absorb his workload.

Getting Sunday off Myers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Impact Myers settled in as the Marlins' starting center fielder for each of the last eight games, slashing .308/.379/.462 with a home run, three walks, four stolen bases, four RBI and four runs during that stretch. Though Kyle Stowers will fill in for him in center field Sunday, Myers still looks like the Marlins' preferred option at the position. Derek Hill (wrist) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could be activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming week, but Myers' stellar performance of late could result in Hill having to settle for a fourth-outfielder role once he rejoins the big club.

Impact Little went right for the Marlins in this one, but Myers at least was a constant nuisance on the basepaths. The 29-year-old has had trouble carving out a regular spot in the lineup, but it's not for lack of trying -- he's started only five of the last 10 games, but during that span he's batting .435 (10-for-23) with two homers, two steals, six runs and eight RBI.
