INJURIES

Returning to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Gillispie to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
Impact Gillispie was recalled by the Marlins on Saturday but did not make an appearance for the big club. He'll return to Triple-A, where he has a 2-0 record across six games (five starts) with a 4.38 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB in 24.2 innings. The move makes room on the 26-man roster for Eurey Perez (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list.

Back with big club The Marlins recalled Gillispie from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Impact Gillispie struggled with Miami earlier this season, posting an 8.65 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB over 26 innings while going 0-3 across six starts. He was sent to the minors in late April and has posted a 4.38 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB over 24.2 frames across six outings (five starts) with Jacksonville. Currently, the Marlins' starter for Sunday's matchup versus the Rays is listed as TBD, so Gillispie could take that turn in the rotation.

Sent to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Gillispie to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
Impact Gillespie gave up seven runs in just two innings during Saturday's loss to the Mariners. He's posted a 14.25 ERA and 2.25 WHIP in 12 innings over his last three starts, and he will move to Triple-A to work on his control. Miami recalled Luarbert Arias from Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Tagged for seven runs in loss Gillispie (0-3) was charged with the loss Saturday in Seattle after surrendering seven runs on six hits and three walks over two innings. He struck out two.
Impact The Mariners batted around in a six-run opening frame, as Gillispie gave up four extra-base hits, including back-to-back homers to open the contest. It's the first time through six starts this year that the right-hander failed to last at least four frames, but it was also the third straight outing in which he allowed more than three runs. Gillispie's spot in Miami's rotation is hardly secure with an 8.65 ERA and 1.65 WHIP, but for now he tentatively lines up to pitch next weekend versus the A's.

Impact Gillispie surrendered three runs in the first inning but managed to settle in despite generating just six whiffs on 91 pitches. While the results haven't been ideal, the 27-year-old has completed at least five innings in four of his five starts this season. He'll take a 6.75 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB across 24 innings into a road matchup with the Mariners next weekend.

Slammed for eight runs Gillispie (0-2) allowed eight runs on eight hits and two walks over five-plus innings Tuesday, striking out six and taking a loss against Arizona.
Impact Gillispie coughed up four runs in the second inning, one in the third, and was charged with three more in the sixth despite not recording an out in the frame. He entered Tuesday's outing with a 3.86 ERA over 14 frames but it shot up to 6.63 after the ugly performance. Gillispie has not recorded more than 15 outs in any of his four starts this season. Still looking for his first career win, he's in line to start in Philadelphia this weekend.

Lasts four innings against Mets Gillispie (0-1) did not factor into the decision against the Mets on Tuesday. He gave up two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two.
Impact Tuesday was the second straight start against the Mets for Gillispie, and for a second consecutive time he came away with the no-decision as Calvin Faucher was tagged with the loss. Gillispie tossed 74 pitches (43 strikes) but was unable to reach five innings of work after doing so in each of his first two starts of the 2025 season, and he's begun the year with a 3.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 22 frames. With the Marlins slated for two off-days over the next week, Gillispie may not take the mound again until the weekend series against the Phillies.

Five strong innings against Mets Gillispie didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets after allowing one run on four hits and no walks in five innings. He struck out six.
Impact Facing a vaunted Mets lineup, Gillispie produced better results than when he gave up four runs in five frames during his first start of the year in a perhaps softer matchup against Pittsburgh. Other than a Pete Alonso double in the first inning to drive in a run, it was rather smooth sailing for Gillispie. The 27-year-old right-hander threw just 73 pitches Wednesday, so he'll search for more length in his next scheduled start against the Mets once again early next week, this time on the road.

Takes loss against Pirates Gillispie (0-1) surrendered four runs (three earned) on four hits in five innings, with four punchouts and four walks while taking the loss to the Pirates on Friday.
Impact Making his first career start in the show, Gillispie kept the Pirates off the board through three innings and was pitching well, but the tide turned in the fourth inning. The 27-year-old issued back-to-back walks to Oneil Cruz and Joey Bart before veteran Andrew McCutchen delivered an RBI double to left, which scored Cruz. Bart would come around to score on a sacrifice fly a few batters later, and the righty allowed a two-run homer to Cruz an inning later. Gillispie had just eight career innings under his belt before this outing and is filling in for injured Marlins starters, Edward Cabrera (finger) and Ryan Weathers (forearm). He is tentatively scheduled to pitch next week against the Mets.

Named to Opening Day rotation Gillispie will begin the season as part of the Marlins' rotation, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Manager Clayton McCullough made the announcement Friday. Injuries to Edward Cabrera (finger) and Ryan Weathers (forearm) opened up a couple spots in Miami's rotation, and Gillispie stepped up in camp to claim one of them by posting a 0.75 ERA and 6:3 K:BB through 12 Grapefruit League innings. He's set to make his Marlins debut March 30 against the Pirates.
