Out against left-hander Keith is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres.

Impact It's the first time this season that Keith has been out of the lineup two days in a row, although this one isn't a surprise since the Padres are sending lefty Kyle Hart to the bump. Spencer Torkelson will handle first base and bat fifth for the Tigers.

Not starting against righty Keith is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Impact With Kerry Carpenter limited to designated hitter duty for now as he comes back from a hamstring issue and Spencer Torkelson deserving everyday playing time, Keith faces a playing-time squeeze in the short term. Torkelson is at first base versus righty Nick Pivetta on Tuesday.

Idle vs. lefty Keith is not in Detroit's starting lineup against Kansas City on Friday.

Impact With the Royals sending southpaw Cole Ragans to the mound, the lefty-hitting Keith will begin Friday's contest in the dugout while Spencer Torkelson starts at first base and bats fifth. Keith is slashing .185/.343/.222 with 13 walks, seven runs scored and two RBI across 67 plate appearances to open the season.

Grabbing seat Wednesday Keith is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Milwaukee, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Heads to bench Monday Keith is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.

Impact Milwaukee is starting lefty Tyler Alexander, so the lefty-hitting Keith will retreat to the bench, with Spencer Torkelson covering first base and Justyn-Henry Malloy serving as the DH. Alexander is more of a long reliever who will likely only cover a few innings, however, so Keith could be used as a pinch hitter depending on how the Brewers deploy their bullpen.

Julien homers off college teammate Mize, Twins beat Tigers 5-1 to end 3-game slide

Edouard Julien homered off former Auburn teammate Casey Mize, Byron Buxton also went deep and the Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 5-1 to stop a three-game losing streak

APRIL 13, 2025 • Associated Press

Tallies two hits Friday Keith went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-6 win over the Twins.

Impact It's been a bit of a slow start to the year for Keith, as this was just his second multi-hit effort through 13 games and he's batting only .200 overall. The 23-year-old is also still seeking his first home run after slugging 13 of them in 148 games as a rookie in 2024. Keith is a talented offensive player, so despite the down numbers, he should continue to see regular playing time and begin to drive the ball more frequently.

Moving to first base Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Friday that Keith will move to first base next season, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Impact The newly-signed Gleyber Torres will take over as the Tigers' second baseman, shifting Keith over to the cold corner. Keith has never played first base in pro ball, but he's been working out there this offseason and the Tigers don't seem to have any concerns about his ability to adapt to the position. With Keith now at first base at least against righties, Spencer Torkelson's role on Detroit's roster looks unclear.

DECEMBER 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Getting work at first base Detroit has asked Keith to take grounders at first base this spring, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact This doesn't necessarily mean that Keith will see time during the 2025 campaign at first base, but if he fares well enough at first during the spring, it would give the Tigers more infield flexibility. Justyn-Henry Malloy was also asked to try his hand at first base, so the general focus around the organization appears to be increasing the number of potential infield combinations.

OCTOBER 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

On bench against lefty Keith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Impact The lefty-hitting Keith will yield to Andy Ibanez at the keystone Friday as the White Sox trot out southpaw Garrett Crochet. In his last 10 games, Keith is 9-for-31 (.290) with a homer and a triple.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Triples, drives in two in win Keith went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rays.

Impact Keith plated Detroit's first run of the game on his sixth inning triple as the Tigers came back from a 3-0 deficit and got one step closer to the playoffs. The rookie has played a key role in his team's resurgence, as he's batting .282 across 20 games in September, though only three of his 20 hits so far this month have gone for extra bases, leaving him with a middling .682 OPS in September.
