Goes on IL
Sulser was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right lat strain, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact
In a corresponding move, the Marlins called up Daniel Castano from Triple-A Jacksonville in advance of his scheduled start in Wednesday's series finale in Philadelphia. Sulser, who has two saves to his name this season, had settled into more of a setup role in June with Tanner Scott notching each of Miami's last four saves. Scott should gain further job security with Sulser out of commission for the time being.

Credited with win Friday
Sulser (1-3) picked up the win in Friday's victory over the Astros, giving up one hit and one walk over 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out three.
Impact
The Marlins never trailed in the game and the right-hander didn't take the mound until the seventh inning, but with starter Pablo Lopez (wrist) not lasting at least five frames, the official scorer judged Sulser to be the most effective of Miami's relievers and credited him with the win. The 32-year-old remains in the high-leverage mix for the Marlins despite unimpressive numbers, collecting two saves and six holds through 22.2 innings with a 3.97 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB.

Melts down again Wednesday
Sulser was charged with his third blown save of the season after allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit while failing to record an out Wednesday in the Marlins' 13-12 loss in 10...
Impact
Sulser has technically blown two save chances in a row, though his first one came in the seventh inning of Monday's 7-1 loss, when he gave up four runs and failed to record an out while entering the contest with a 1-0 lead. The Marlins' closing picture had already been a hazy one entering the week, but Sulser's consecutive rough outings could prompt manager Don Mattingly to go in a different direction the next time a save opportunity is available.

Collects second save
Sulser gave up a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his second save of the season in a 4-1 win over Atlanta.
Impact
The right-hander made things interesting, putting two runners aboard with two outs, but Sulser was able to strike out Austin Riley to preserve the victory. The back of the Marlins' bullpen remains a mess, as Anthony Bender (back) is on the shelf and Dylan Floro continues to work in lower-leverage spots despite a streak of five straight scoreless appearance. Remarkably, this was the first save by any Miami reliever in the month of May. Given Sulser's effectiveness this season, his 2.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB through 18 innings might be good enough to earn him further chances in the ninth inning.

Picks up save
Sulser struck out two and allowed a walk across a scoreless 1.1 innings to earn the save Thursday against Washington.
Impact
Sulser entered the game with a one-run lead in the eighth inning and with runners on first and second. However, he struck out Josh Bell to end the threat and then worked around a leadoff walk in the final frame to record his first save. Anthony Bender has served as the team's primary closer this season, but he pitched on consecutive days and was likely unavailable Thursday as a result. Sulser has pitched well early in 2022, allowing only one earned run across 8.2 innings while maintaining an 8:4 K:BB.

Dealt to Miami
Sulser and Tanner Scott were traded from the Orioles to the Marlins on Sunday in exchange for Antonio Velez and Kevin Guerrero, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Impact
Sulser was slated to compete for closing duties in Baltimore to begin the 2022 campaign, but he'll now attempt to carve out a role in the Marlins' bullpen. The right-hander converted eight of 11 save chances last year and posted a 2.70 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 63.1 innings across 60 relief appearances. The Marlins have Dylan Floro (arm), Anthony Bender and Anthony Bass available as late relievers, but Sulser should be in the mix for some late-inning work in 2022.

Set to pitch Sunday
Sulser (illness) is scheduled to pitch Sunday versus the Tigers, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Impact
A stomach bug will end up costing Sulser only a couple of days. The right-hander will be making his second Grapefruit League appearance of the season. He's expected to compete for closing duties with the Orioles this year.

Dealing with stomach bug
Sulser didn't pitch Thursday versus the Red Sox due to a stomach illness, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact
Sulser was scheduled for his second appearance of spring training Thursday, but that'll have to wait a couple more days. The right-hander is expected to be part of the Orioles' closer committee this season. He has previous experience closing -- he's logged 13 saves in 79 appearances over the last two seasons. Sulser pitched to a 2.70 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 73:23 K:BB across 63.1 innings last season.

Picks up eighth save
Sulser earned the save by firing a perfect inning against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Impact
Susler retired all three of his batters in 12 pitches to tally his eighth save of the year. With Tyler Wells (shoulder inflammation) done for the season, Susler looks to be the favorite for ninth-inning duties in Baltimore. He's collected two wins and a pair of saves this month.

In line for saves?
With Tyler Wells (shoulder inflammation) done for the season, Sulser seems like the most likely candidate to get saves for Baltimore down the stretch.
Impact
He has a 1.34 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, 11 strikeouts, two wins, two saves and three holds over his last 13.1 innings and currently boasts a nine-inning scoreless streak. Wells got two saves this week prior to landing on the injured list. The Orioles have a three-game homestand against Boston next week before finishing the season with a three-game road series in Toronto.

Picks up fifth win
Sulser (5-4) struck out two in two perfect innings to earn the win Thursday versus the Yankees.
Impact
The 31-year-old kept the game tied in the ninth and 10th innings before Baltimore walked it off on a bases-loaded Austin Hays single. Sulser has pitched five consecutive scoreless innings after a shaky run of performances when the calendar flipped from August to September. For the year, he owns a 2.98 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 71:22 K:BB in 57.1 innings as one of Baltimore's most effective high-leverage arms.

Earns two-inning save
Sulser allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over two scoreless innings to earn the save in Friday's 6-3 win over Toronto.
Impact
The right-hander has been inconsistent lately, but he was able to minimize his mistakes Friday to lock down his seventh save of the year. Sulser owns a 3.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 68:22 K:BB through 54.1 innings. He's added a 4-4 record, three blown saves and three holds while filling a high-leverage relief role. Sulser and Tyler Wells appear to be the favorites for save chances for the rest of the season.

Falters in Monday's loss
Sulser (4-4) took the loss Monday versus Kansas City. He allowed two runs on four hits with one strikeout in one inning.
Impact
The 31-year-old was responsible for Kansas City's two-run rally in the eighth inning that erased a narrow Baltimore lead. Sulser has allowed runs to score in four of his last seven outings, and he's taken a 1-2 record with a save and two blown saves in that span. For the year, he owns a 3.27 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 67:21 K:BB in 52.1 innings with six saves, three blown saves and three holds. Save chances have been rare in Baltimore this year, and Sulser's recent inconsistency adds another layer of risk for fantasy managers despite his solid season ratios.

Collects win Saturday
Sulser (4-3) struck out one in 1.1 perfect innings to earn the win Saturday over the Yankees.
Impact
The right-hander got Anthony Rizzo to fly out in the eighth inning, and Baltimore went ahead in the ninth. Sulser had no trouble in the bottom of the ninth, securing his first win since July 25. The 31-year-old lowered his ERA to 2.98 with a 1.17 WHIP and 66:21 K:BB through 51.1 innings. He'll continue to see high-leverage usage over the final month of the season, as he's logged six saves and three holds in 50 appearances.
