Impact The lefty took a shutout into the sixth inning, but Irvin got the hook after the first four Texas batters reached base on three singles and a hit by pitch, and Sergio Romo then allowed two of those inherited runners to score. Irvin has been one of the big surprises of the first half in the American League, and the 27-year-old will take a 3.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 78:19 K:BB through 106 innings into the All-Star break.

Settles for no-decision Saturday Irvin tossed seven innings against Boston on Saturday, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five. He did not factor in the decision.

Impact The southpaw made it through three innings without allowing Boston to get on the scoreboard. He was let down by his defense in the fourth, when a pair of errors led to two Red Sox runs. Irvin gave up another pair of runs the rest of the way and looked to be in line for his eighth loss before an Oakland rally in the eighth inning took him off the hook. He isn't striking out many batters on the season -- Saturday's start marked the 10th time in his past 11 outings in which he has notched five or fewer strikeouts -- but Irvin has nonetheless been able to navigate to a respectable 3.56 ERA overall. His next start is tentatively scheduled to take place at Texas on Friday.

Spectacular against Giants Irvin (6-7) earned the win Sunday against San Francisco after hurling eight scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Impact Irvin tied a season-high mark for innings pitched and ended just one strikeout away from tying his season-best output, but he also tied a season-low mark in hits allowed and limited the walks -- he's yet to issue more than two free passes in any outing thus far. The southpaw has already made 16 starts this season and owns a 3.64 ERA, and while he's not expected to deliver this kind of results on a weekly basis, it's safe to say he's going through one of his most productive stretches of the campaign -- he owns a 2.64 ERA across five June starts. His next outing is slated to come this weekend at home against the Red Sox.

Impact Irvin was handed a 9-0 lead after the first three innings. He cruised through the first four frames without allowing a run until struggling to get through the fifth. Irvin hit a batter and surrendered a pair of doubles as a part of the four-run inning. The 27-year-old has a 3.98 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP through 86 innings. He doesn't strike out many with just a 6.3 K/9, but he has been a reliable arm in the rotation averaging just under six innings pitched per start.
