Starting Tuesday Poteet will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact Since Sandy Alcantara is starting for the Marlins in Monday's series opener against Washington, Poteet will get an additional day of rest prior to making his first start of the season Tuesday. Poteet tossed four relief innings against the Diamondbacks last Tuesday and allowed no runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Impact Poteet will be throwing for the second time this spring, after he struck out three over two scoreless frames Friday against the Nationals. As a rookie last season, Poteet made seven starts for Miami and submitted a 4.99 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 30.2 innings before he suffered a sprained right knee in late June that ended his campaign prematurely. Though he's back to full health again this spring, Poteet likely finds himself on the outside looking in for a spot in Miami's Opening Day rotation. He could still break camp with the big club as a long reliever, though the organization may prefer to have him stay stretched out as a starter at Triple-A Jacksonville.
