Chase DeLauter - Exits early Sunday DeLauter was removed from Sunday's contest against the Padres prior to the third inning due to an unspecified injury, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact DeLauter made a catch on a fly ball off the bat of Manny Machado in the bottom of the first inning and popped out in his only at-bat in the bottom of the frame. The Guardians should provide an explanation behind the 24-year-old's early departure later Sunday.

Impact Martinez's playing time appeared to be trending up after he produced five extra-base knocks during an eight-game hitting streak that ran from Aug. 4 through Thursday, but he now finds himself on the bench for the third time in four contests. With Martinez taking a seat, the Guardians will roll out a starting outfield of Jo Adell, Steven Kwan and Chase DeLauter from left to right.

Angel Genao - Receiving break Sunday Genao is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
Impact For just the second time since being promoted from Triple-A Columbus on Aug. 5, Genao will hit the bench. Rhys Hoskins will enter the starting nine as a replacement for Genao, who has produced a .294/.368/.412 slash line with one home run, one stolen base, three RBI and seven runs through his first 10 big-league games.

José Ramírez - Gets Guardians on board early Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over San Diego.
Impact Ramirez doubled in the first inning and scored the Guardians' first run on Jo Adell's double to tie the game at 1-1. He later hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Cleveland's fourth run. Ramirez, who underwent surgery on his left hamate bone in June, has been grinding (12-for-61, 197) since coming off the injured list in July and is having his playing time managed. In a positive sign, two of his three batted-ball events Saturday had exit velocities greater than 100 mph, including the double which clocked in at 103.5 mph, the fourth-hardest ball he's logged since his return.

Steven Kwan - Scores on double steal Kwan went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, an RBI and a two runs scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Padres.
Impact With runners at the corners in the seventh inning, the Guardians ran a double-steal with Chase DeLauter taking off for second base and Kwan scoring on the throw. Kwan has hit safely in 13 of the last 14 games, during which he's posted a .411/.493/.500 slash line and scored 12 runs. He's experienced a remarkable turnaround in 2026. After being dropped to ninth in the order and batting just .206 on June 22, Kwan has slashed .368/.449/.461 in 43 games played since then.

Impact Holderman was removed with two outs in the seventh inning after throwing a wild pitch. The right-hander was allowed a few warmup pitches before Guardians manager Stephen Vogt decided to lift him from the game. "He probably could have pitched through it, but I didn't like the look on his face," Vogt said. "Obviously we got him out of there at the right time, so we're hoping it's a day-to-day thing." Holderman, who has been a bright spot in the bullpen, was shut down for six weeks last season due to a similar injury. He had allowed runs in two of his previous four outings, although it's unclear if the wrist played a role in those results. Holderman entered Saturday with 2.42 ERA and 093 WHIP over 48 apperances (48.1 innings).

Joey Cantillo - Shines in ninth victory Cantillo (9-7) earned the win over San Diego on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks while striking out seven batters over six innings.
Impact Cantillo yielded just one hit -- a single by the second batter he faced (Jake Cronenworth). The Padres were able to use that knock to manufacture a run, but Cantillo shut them down the rest of the way, allowing just two additional baserunners (both on free passes). Cantillo logged an impressive 15 whiffs on 87 pitches and finished with his first quality start (and first outing of at least six innings) since June 26. He's had issues with walks this season, but the left-hander has managed a 9-7 record with 139 punchouts over 125.2 innings while posting a 3.80 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 26 starts. He's slated to next take the mound on the road in Colorado.
