Placed on IL
The Yankees placed Beeter on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.
Impact
General manager Brian Cashman said last weekend that the Yankees expect Beeter to be out "a while," so the right-hander's move to the injured list isn't much of a surprise. He remains without a clear return timeline but may receive one once he is cleared to face live hitters

Out indefinitely
General manager Brian Cashman said Saturday that Beeter (shoulder) will be out "a while," Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact
While Cashman's comments don't exactly offer the clearest return timeline, it doesn't seem like Beeter is expected back anytime soon. The right-hander has been battling an issue in his throwing shoulder since the start of camp and seemingly hasn't progressed past throwing bullpen sessions.

ROTOWIRE
Not expected for Opening Day
Beeter (shoulder) is not expected to be ready in time for Opening Day, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Beeter has not appeared in a Grapefruit League game because of a right shoulder problem. He had been throwing off a mound, but it's not clear whether he might have suffered a setback. Beeter has been converted to reliever and could work his way into an important role in the Yankees' bullpen, once healthy.

Moved to relief full-time
The Yankees have moved Beeter to the bullpen on a permanent basis, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Beeter has primarily been a starter in the minors, but he moved to the bullpen last September at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and finished the year with two relief appearances with the Yankees. The righty has always had big stuff, but with a career 12.7 percent walk rate in the minors, a shift to relief was always possible. Beeter is likely to begin the 2025 season at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre but could eventually be a weapon in the Yankees' bullpen. The 26-year-old is a little behind at the start of camp due to a shoulder issue that dates back to last season, but he's been throwing off a mound.

Overcoming shoulder issue
Beeter has been dealing with a right shoulder injury but has resumed throwing bullpen sessions, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Beeter missed time with a shoulder injury last season in the minors, too, but the Yankees are hopeful the righty is close to putting the issue in the rearview mirror. That said, it might be a bit before Beeter is cleared to appear in Grapefruit League games. The 26-year-old has primarily been a starter in the minors but is under consideration for an Opening Day bullpen role.

Recalled to big club
Beeter was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
Impact
Beeter will come up to replace Jake Cousins (pectoral), who landed on the 15-day injured list. The right-handed Beeter was at one point feared lost for the season due to a shoulder injury, but he was able to return to action in the minors earlier this month. He allowed just one hit over four scoreless innings after rejoining Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Activated, sent to Double-A
Beeter (shoulder) was reinstated from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 60-day injured list Saturday and was assigned to Double-A Somerset.
Impact
Beeter proceeded to appear out of the Somerset bullpen later that day, striking out two and allowing one hit and no walks over a scoreless inning. The right-hander had turned in a 2.53 ERA over 32 innings with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before hitting the shelf in May with a right shoulder injury.

Moved to minor-league 60-day IL
Beeter (shoulder) was transferred from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on July 22.
Impact
Beeter last pitched for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 15, and he was subsequently transferred to the 7-day IL due to a shoulder injury. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said July 9 that the 25-year-old was in danger of missing the remainder of the season, so it's not surprising to see him transferred to the 60-day IL. Beeter had been pitching well prior to getting hurt, posting a 2.53 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB over 32 innings for the Triple-A club. He also got into one game for the Yankees, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning versus Houston on March 29.

Impact
Prior to landing on Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 7-day injured list May 21, Beeter was 3-1 over seven starts with a 2.53 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 44:21 K:BB over 32 innings. The Yankees could opt to sit the 25-year-old right-hander for the rest of the season so he can spend the year rehabbing and preparing for 2025.

Dominant finish at Triple-A
Beeter logged a 1.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 16 innings over his final three starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Impact
The best Triple-A hitters have mostly been promoted to the majors at this stage of the season, but it was still an excellent way for Beeter to close his age-24 season. Beeter's 93-mph fastball (touches 97 mph) and sweeping slider have been an excellent bat-missing duo -- he also sparingly throws quality third and fourth pitches in his curveball and changeup -- but his command and control have held him back at times. At the very least, it would seem Beeter could help a big-league bullpen at some point next season, and he will need to be added to the 40-man roster this offseason if the Yankees want to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

ROTOWIRE
Off to excellent start in minors
Beeter has made five starts for Double-A Somerset so far this season, posting a 1.35 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB over 26.2 innings.
Impact
Beeter was acquired by the Yankees in a deal for Joey Gallo last season, and he impressed after joining his new organization, posting a 2.13 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB over 25.1 frames. He's carried that success over to 2023 and could move up to Triple-A before long given his early results with Somerset. Beeter has thus far displayed strong strikeout stuff in the minors, though he could help his chances of reaching the majors by cutting down on walks. He's been almost exclusively a starter in the minors but may be more successful out of the bullpen as a big-leaguer.
