Max Schrock - Heads back to minors The Reds optioned Schrock to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Impact The Reds should get at least one of Mike Moustakas (illness) or Albert Almora (illness) back from the COVID-19-related injured list coming out of the All-Star break, so Schrock's demotion will open up a spot for a corresponding transaction. During his four-day stint with Cincinnati, Schrock went 0-for-2 while appearing off the bench in two games.

Steven Matz - Cardinals-Reds postponed Sunday Matz (shoulder) and the Cardinals won't face the Reds on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Impact Matz, who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Sunday, will thus have to wait until after the All-Star break to make his first start with the big club since May 22. The Cardinals and Reds will make up the postponed game Sept. 17 as part of a split doubleheader.

Graham Ashcraft - Reds-Cardinals postponed Sunday Ashcraft and the Reds won't face the Cardinals on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Impact As a result of the postponement, Ashcraft will have to wait until after the All-Star break to make his 11th start of the season. The rookie, who has gone 4-2 with a 4.45 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 54.2 innings in the big leagues this season, is expected to be part of a six-man rotation coming out of the break with Tyler Mahle (shoulder) trending toward a return from the injured list for the Reds' first series of the second half.
