Set for debut The Angels plan to select the contract of Moore, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact Moore was selected in the first round by the Angels in 2024 and has risen through their minor-league system quickly. He has excelled at Triple-A Salt Lake in 2025, slashing .350/.424/.575 across 92 plate appearances. Moore figures to start every day at second base and hit in a prominent spot in the lineup.

Impact In something of a surprise move, the Angels sent Moore to pitcher-friendly Double-A Rocket City to begin the season, where he logged a .234/.342/.323 slash line with one home run, five steals and a 27.4 percent strikeout rate in 34 games. He has been much closer to the player fantasy managers stashed to begin the year since getting to Triple-A, even if his .462 BABIP and extreme hitting environments are partially propping up his numbers. Given that the Angels are currently mixing in Luis Rengifo (-1.3 fWAR in 60 games) and Scott Kingery (-0.2 fWAR in six games) at second base, Moore could get the call to the majors any day now.

Impact Moore is being bumped up a level in spite of an unimpressive .234/.342/.323 batting line and 27.4 percent strikeout rate at Double-A Rocket City. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Moore has a shot to debut in 2025, but he'll need to pick up the production.

Beginning season at Double-A Moore has been assigned to Double-A Rocket City to begin the season, MLB.com reports.

Impact Moore had an opportunity early on in Angels camp to win the starting second-base job, but he struggled in Cactus League play, collecting a .616 OPS and 32.7 percent strikeout rate. The top prospect also struck out at nearly a 30 percent rate in his 23 games with Rocket City last season, so he has things to work on in the minors even as he was very productive in 2024 with a .984 OPS over two levels. The Angels don't have much blocking him at second base and are aggressive in promoting their prospects, so Moore still has a good chance to make an impact in 2025 if he can get off to a nice start.

The 22-year-old has not flashed his power during his first spring training as he tries to earn a bench spot with the Angels, but he has been able to slash .281/.395/.739. The eighth selected player of the 2024 draft has been seeing game action at second base during spring training, but has received work at third on the side. The young prospect has a chance to make the jump from Double-A Rocket City to an Opening Day starter for the Angels with manager Ron Washington being unsure if starting second baseman Luis Rengifo will be ready in time, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Impact Moore was already expected to compete for an Opening Day roster spot as a second baseman, but he could increase his chances of breaking camp with the big club if he can prove himself capable of handling the hot corner. Though the Angels signed Yoan Moncada on Feb. 6 to fill a need at third base in the wake of Anthony Rendon's potentially season-ending hip surgery, the team hasn't yet committed to a specific starter either there or at second base. Luis Rengifo is also a candidate to start at either position, and Tim Anderson has spent some time at the keystone this spring as well.
