Lands on restricted list
Devenski was placed on the restricted list for personal reasons Wednesday.
Impact
The 30-year-old blew a save by allowing a game-tying, solo homer Tuesday against the Rockies, and he's now been placed on the injured list for personal reasons. It's unclear when Devenski is expected to rejoin the team. Joakim Soria (calf) is on the injured list and Kevin Ginkel is battling an illness, so Yoan Lopez could be the top option for saves in Arizona for the immediate future.

Blows save Tuesday
Devenski was called upon to convert a save chance Tuesday against the Rockies but instead gave up a game-tying homer to Sam Hilliard.
Impact
Devenski was able to retire the first two batters before the homer, and might still get the next chance with Joakim Soria going on the IL. Yoan Lopez also blew a lead in the 10th inning, Stefan Crichton was used in the seventh inning, and Kevin Ginkel was unavailable due to an illness.

Racks up save Sunday
Devenski allowed a run on one hit and struck out one to pick up the save in Sunday's 3-1 win over San Diego.
Impact
Perceived closer Joakim Soria came on to start the eighth inning and exited early with a calf injury. So what was a murky closer situation prior to Sunday became less clear following the game. It would appear a group of Devenski, Kevin Ginkel, who closed out the eighth inning, and Stefan Crichton could get work in the final third of games.

Elects free agency
Devenski (elbow) elected free agency Friday rather than accept an outright assignment to the minors, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Devenski battled arm troubles throughout the season and eventually underwent surgery to removed a bone spur from his right elbow. He threw just 3.2 innings and allowed six runs. After breaking out with a 2.38 ERA in his first two seasons in the league, he now owns a 4.88 ERA in his last three. A pitcher with mediocre recent numbers and recent elbow surgery is unlikely to be too popular on the open market.

Heads back to injured list
Devenski returned to the injured list Monday, this time with elbow discomfort, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
Devenski missed more than a month with arm soreness and returned for just two appearances before heading right back to the injured list. He's allowed six earned runs in 3.2 innings this season.

Impact
Pressly's status takes on a greater urgency following Chris Devenski's trip to the IL and Roberto Osuna leaving Saturday's game with arm discomfort. There's a chance that Pressly could close immediately. Other options include Bryan Abreu and Cy Sneed in the short-term.

Traveling with team
Devenski (arm) will travel with the team this weekend but is unavailable to pitch Wednesday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
Impact
The only public diagnosis is arm soreness for Devenski, and the Astros are operating as though he could avoid a stint on the injured list. For now they have been leaning on some youngsters to get things done in the middle innings.

Shut down from throwing
Pruitt (elbow) has been shut down from throwing, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
Impact
This is an ominous sign for a pitcher who was diagnosed with elbow inflammation a couple weeks ago. Given the shortened season, it's quite possible Pruitt won't be heard from at all in 2020. The Astros are very shorthanded in the pitching department, as Justin Verlander, Ryan Pressly and Chris Devenski have all been diagnosed with arm injuries in the last 48 hours.

Battling arm soreness
Devenski is battling arm soreness, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
Impact
He gave up three runs on three hits and one walk in one inning during Sunday's game. Ryan Pressly is also down with elbow soreness, so the Astros will have to lean heavily on their young relievers. Devenski is without a timeline to return to game action.

Charged with loss against Seattle
Devenski (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning as he earned the loss Sunday against the Mariners.
Impact
Devenski was called on to preserve a 5-4 lead in the eighth inning of Sunday's game, but he was unable to contain the Mariners as he picked up the loss and blown save. The right-hander posted a 4.83 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 69 innings with the Astros last season and isn't expected to pitch in many high-leverage situations this year.

Logs two sim innings
Devenski threw two innings in a simulated game Saturday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Devenski could have a similar multi-inning role as he did in 2017, when he was named an All-Star. Starting pitchers are not expected to pitch deep into games at the start of the season, so there may be a need for multi-inning performances from the bullpen. Additionally, the low inventory of games -- 60 instead of 162 -- may prompt managers to manage games as they might during a playoff series. That means giving starters who don't have their best stuff a quick hook in a given game.
