Impact Zhuang is no longer a member of the Athletics' 40-man roster after the Athletics designated him for assignment Friday, but he'll remain in the organization after going unclaimed off waivers. The 25-year-old righty has yet to make his MLB debut and has compiled a 6.42 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 63:33 K:BB in 82.2 innings between stops with Las Vegas and Double-A Midland.

Impact The move corresponds with the Athletics selecting Jonathan Ornelas' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioning Colby Thomas to Triple-A. Zhuang has spent the entire 2026 season in Las Vegas but has allowed at least six earned runs over his last five outings, which has him at a 7.84 ERA and 1.79 WHIP across 59.2 innings in Triple-A.

Impact Zhunag will make the jump up to the Pacific Coast League to begin the 2026 campaign after he spent all of last season at Double-A Midland, where he turned in a 4.08 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 145:35 K:BB in 145.2 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander was added to the Athletics' 40-man roster over the winter but is likely to find himself behind several other minor-league arms for a call-up to the majors.
