Undergoing tests at hospital
Silseth is undergoing tests at the hospital after being struck in the back of the head by a throw in Saturday's game versus the Mets, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Impact
First baseman Trey Cabbage was trying to throw a runner out at third base in the fourth inning but hit Silseth before the ball could reach its intended destination. Weston notes that Silseth was alert and speaking before leaving for the hospital and even joked whether he was covering the right base, which seems like a good sign. The Angels will update the pitcher's status once the results of the tests are in.

Exits after taking throw to head
Silseth was removed from Saturday's start versus the Mets in the fourth inning after a throw across the infield hit him in the back of the head, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The Angels were trying to cut down a runner with a throw from first to third base, but Silseth was in the line of fire and was struck in the back of the head. He was down on the field for several minutes before eventually walking off with a little help. The right-hander is surely set to go through concussion testing. Silseth was charged with two runs on two hits and two walks over 3.1 innings before departing.

Struggles in Saturday start
Silseth allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Impact
Though Silseth fell behind by two runs in the first frame, the Angels bounced back to give him a 6-2 lead through three innings. The right-hander couldn't take advantage, however, as he was lifted with two outs in the fourth. Silseth surrendered three runs on four hits and a walk in that frame, with two of the knocks against him leaving the park. The 23-year-old nailed down a spot in the rotation on the strength of a four-start stretch between July 19 and Aug. 13 during which he posted a 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 31:5 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Saturday's poor outing probably won't lead to him leaving the rotation, though it's worth noting that Griffin Canning -- who has come out of the bullpen in each of his past two appearances after starting in each of his initial 16 contests this season -- took the win Saturday as a result of giving up just one run over 3.1 frames.

Throws five scoreless
Silseth (4-1) tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win over the Astros on Sunday. He allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out five.
Impact
Silseth continued his run of dominance since being recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake July 19. He's made four starts all against teams currently over .500 and holds a 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 31:5 K:BB in 22.2 innings. The one negative is that manager Phil Nevin has allowed Silseth to throw more then 85 pitches just once over that span and therefore he's only reached six innings once. The Angels just returned Griffin Canning from the injured list Sunday, which congests the rotation; however, it seems safe to say Silseth's starting spot is secure for now given the season-long struggles for Tyler Anderson and the recent struggles for Reid Detmers.

Fans 12 in no-decision
Silseth allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings in Sunday's loss to Seattle. He struck out 12 and did not factor in the decision.
Impact
Silseth was outstanding Sunday, forcing a career-high 21 whiffs while punching out 12 Mariners. He coughed up a pair of solo homers and the Angels offense went missing again, costing him a third straight win. Over his last three starts, the 23-year-old righty has compiled an impressive 26:3 K:BB and 2.04 ERA through 17.2 innings. Silseth will carry a 3.72 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to be in Houston.

Sticking around in rotation
Silseth is scheduled to start Sunday versus the Mariners at Angel Stadium.
Impact
Silseth was expected to lose his spot in the rotation after the Angels acquired Lucas Giolito from the White Sox last week, but the right-hander will end up making two starts this week after Griffin Canning (calf) was unexpectedly scratched Monday before moving to the 15-day injured list a day later. The Angels are hopeful that Canning will be able to return from the IL when first eligible July 13, so Silseth's upcoming start could be his last before he heads back to the bullpen or Triple-A Salt Lake. Silseth has held his own against the Yankees and Atlanta his last two times out, picking up wins on both occasions while striking out 14 and issuing only two walks over 10.2 innings.

Solid in spot start
Silseth (3-1) earned the win over Atlanta on Monday, pitching five innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out four batters. He didn't issue any walks.
Impact
Silseth got a turn in the rotation due to Griffin Canning (general soreness) being a late scratch, and the former delivered a strong five frames during which he yielded just one run on a solo shot by Matt Olson. Prior to Monday, Silseth hadn't seen any game action since he held the Yankees to one run and notched a career-high 10 strikeouts over 5.2 innings in a start July 19. Despite the consecutive excellent outings, Silseth will likely return to the bullpen moving forward, as Canning expects to take his next turn in the rotation and the Angels recently added another starter in Lucas Giolito.

Making spot start Monday
Silseth will start Monday's game in Atlanta, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Silseth was squeezed out of the Angels' six-man rotation after the acquisition of Lucas Giolito last week, but the young right-hander will end up getting a spot start Monday after Griffin Canning was scratched due to general soreness. Canning is optimistic that he'll be ready to go when his next turn through the rotation comes up this weekend, so Silseth could head back to the bullpen immediately after Monday's start. Silseth holds a 4.44 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 24.1 innings this season and won't make for a reliable streaming option Monday in a road matchup versus a talented Atlanta offense.

Back in bullpen
Silseth has been pushed out of the Angels' rotation and will rejoin the bullpen, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The arrival of Lucas Giolito created a logjam in the Angels' rotation, and now that Patrick Sandoval has been confirmed as Tuesday's starter against Atlanta, Silseth becomes the odd man out. Silseth has bounced back and forth between the bullpen and rotation all season, putting up a 4.44 ERA and 1.48 WHIP through 24.1 innings in the process.

Not starting Thursday
Silseth is no longer set to start Thursday, as the Angels will instead have Shohei Ohtani and Patrick Sandoval start Games 1 and 2, respectively, of the team's series-ending double...
Impact
After Wednesday's game was postponed due to inclement weather, Silseth and Patrick Sandoval -- who had been scheduled to start Wednesday -- were initially announced as the team's starters for the twin bill. However, the Angels later reversed course and moved Shohei Ohtani up from his start Friday in Toronto to start Thursday. The change may have been related to the Angels' acquisition Wednesday of Lucas Giolito, who is expected to settle into the Los Angeles rotation right away and will likely make his team debut during the Toronto series. The arrival of Giolito now gives the Halos seven starters, and Silseth will most likely find himself as the odd man out if manager Phil Nevin elects to maintain a six-man rotation moving forward. The Angels haven't clarified their plans for Silseth, who could move to the bullpen or perhaps return to Triple-A Salt Lake to stay on a regular starting schedule.

Sticks around in rotation
Silseth will start Thursday's game against the Tigers at Comerica Park, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact
Silseth will unsurprisingly draw a second straight turn through the rotation after he struck out a career-high 10 while allowing one run in 5.2 innings in a win over the Yankees on July 19 following his promotion from Triple-A Salt Lake. He ended up taking over the rotation spot of Jaime Barria, who was moved to the bullpen coming out of the All-Star break.

ROTOWIRE
Fans career-high 10 batters
Silseth (2-1) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over 5.2 innings.
Impact
Silseth was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day and dominated New York in just his second big-league start of the season. The right-hander racked up 14 whiffs and a career-best 10 strikeouts -- his previous MLB high mark was six. Silseth has compiled a 2.79 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 44:14 K:BB over 42 innings in the minors this season, but he had yet to show much in the majors, posting a 6.08 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 7.4 K/9 over 47.1 career innings coming into Wednesday. Given the impressive performance against the Yankees, there's a chance he could stick as the Angels' sixth starter moving forward, though fantasy managers may want to see a larger sample of success before considering him as a waiver-wire addition.

The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Impact

Starting for Halos on Wednesday
Silseth will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday to start against the Yankees, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
Impact
Silseth was optioned to Triple-A on June 3 and has since put up a 4.50 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 22 innings across five starts. Despite his unimpressive performance, he'll be called upon to start Wednesday. Silseth has only two major-league appearances this year that lasted at least three innings.
