Condition improving Culberson (illness) has reported improvement with his condition since being placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Culberson is one of four Rangers players to land on the COVID-19 IL within the past four days, but the team isn't disclosing which of those individuals tested positive for the virus. Though Culberson has acknowledged being vaccinated, the fact that he has experienced some degree of virus symptoms means he'll likely miss at least a week of action before rejoining the Rangers. While both Culberson and Brock Holt are on the COVID-19 IL, Nick Solak is expected to serve as the Rangers' top utility infielder.

Impact Per source, Culberson has yet to test positive for the virus but is experiencing COVID-like symptoms. If he never winds up testing positive, he could be back within a few days, but he'll be forced to miss a longer period if it turns out he does indeed have coronavirus. Impact Culberson was involved both at the plate and in the field. Prior to his two-run double in the seventh inning, Culberson made a nice bare-handed play on Whit Merrifield's slow chopper in the first inning, then snared a 101.5 mph grounder to initiate a double play to end that frame. He, Brock Holt and more recently Andy Ibanez are holding down third base until prospect Josh Jung is ready for the majors. Jung's season was delayed due to a foot injury, but he's currently playing for Double-A Frisco. The injury may preclude Jung from reaching the majors in 2021, so Culberson could remain part of the mix for the rest of the season.
