INJURIES

Solid in no-decision Carrasco did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings against the Cubs. He struck out five.
Impact Outside of a Cody Bellinger solo shot in the fourth inning and a run-scoring double by Yan Gomes in the fifth, Carrasco pitched well Tuesday and left the game with the score tied 2-2. The veteran hurler struggled in his previous four outings, allowing 21 earned runs in 15.1 innings with just nine strikeouts during that stretch. Carrasco is projected to face a tough Atlanta lineup over the weekend.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Lit up again Carrasco (3-6) took the loss Thursday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings against the Royals.
Impact Carrasco allowed one run in the first inning but really began to struggle with his command in the third when he gave up a leadoff single, threw a wild pitch and then surrendered a homer to Bobby Witt. He would give up another three runs in the seventh after allowing back-to-back singles to open the frame, followed by a three-run shot from Drew Waters. The 36-year-old right-hander has now allowed six runs in back-to-back starts and at least four runs in four straight. He also failed to record a strikeout Thursday for the first time this season.

Rattled by Nats Carrasco (3-5) took the loss Saturday as the Mets were downed 11-6 by the Nationals, coughing up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out tw...
Impact It was another early exit for the veteran right-hander, who has thrown only 9.1 innings over his last three starts while getting hammered for 24 hits and 15 runs. The Mets are cleaning house at the trade deadline, and Carrasco is in the final year of his contract, but it's hard to imagine a contender showing much interest in the 36-year-old given his 6.40 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 52:32 K:BB through 70.1 innings on the season. If he remains with the club past Tuesday, his next start would likely come next weekend in Baltimore.
JULY 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Coughs up five runs Carrasco (3-4) yielded five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 2.1 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against Boston.
Impact The Red Sox caught fire in the third inning, poking six straight hits against Carrasco and forcing him out of the game after just 58 pitches. In his final three starts before the All-Star break, he gave up just four runs in 17 frames. However, he's been charged with nine runs in seven innings since then. The veteran righty has watched his season ERA balloon to 5.82 with a 50:31 K:BB through 14 starts. Carrasco's next outing is currently lined up to be at home against the Nationals.

Can't take advantage of run support Carrasco didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 11-10 win over the White Sox, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact The Mets staked Carrasco to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and added three more runs before he left the mound, but the veteran right-hander couldn't stick around long enough to qualify for the win. He got the hook after 82 pitches (50 strikes), failing to complete five innings for the fourth time in his last six starts. Carrasco has a 4.60 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 25:14 K:BB through 29.1 innings over that stretch, and he's a risky play even as a streaming option given his inability to pitch deep into games. His next outing lines up for a weekend tilt in Boston.
JULY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Stellar in third win Carrasco (3-3) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out four over eight shutout innings to earn the win Thursday over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Carrasco had pitched into the seventh inning just once prior to Thursday's start, which was easily his best of the campaign. He ended a five-start winless skid with the gem against the NL West leaders. Even after the strong outing, the veteran right-hander has a 5.16 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 43:27 K:BB through 61 innings across 12 starts on the year.

Fans six in no-decision Carrasco allowed two runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in Friday's loss to the Giants. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
Impact Carrasco yielded one run through four frames before serving up a solo shot to Wilmer Flores in the fifth. Carrasco has allowed two runs in three of his last four starts but still owns an ugly 5.94 ERA through 53 innings. He hasn't finished more than five innings in an outing since May 31. The 36-year-old righty is projected to start in Arizona next week.

Allows two runs in no-decision Carrasco did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over four innings against Philadelphia. He struck out five.
Impact Carrasco has allowed at least one home run in nine of his 10 starts this year and sports an ugly 6.19 ERA. The right-hander has also failed to complete five frames in three straight starts, posting a horrendous 10:8 K:BB across 11.2 innings during that stretch. Despite his struggles, Carrasco's spot in the Mets rotation remains secure while Jose Quintana (ribs) is sidelined, but that doesn't mean he needs to be rostered in standard fantasy leagues.
JUNE 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Pulled in fourth Carrasco did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits and three walks over three innings in a 8-7 loss to St. Louis. He struck out four.
Impact Carrasco posted season-worst marks in innings completed and runs allowed during a disappointing outing. After a rough first start, the right-hander had been solid since coming off the injured list in mid-May, posting a 3.22 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over his past four starts, but he struggled again Sunday. It was the fourth time Carrasco has allowed at least five runs this season, and his ERA currently sits at 6.34. Regardless, Carrasco's spot in the rotation is secure for the time being, and his next start is lined up for a matchup in Philadelphia.
JUNE 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Falls to Pirates Carrasco (2-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings against Pittsburgh. He struck out one.
Impact It's the first loss since April 9 for Carrasco, who pitched to a 3.06 ERA in his previous three outings. The veteran right-hander struggled with his command Sunday, needing 81 pitches to get through just 4.2 innings. Carrasco now sports a 5.71 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP and 24:18 K:BB through eight starts (41 innings) this season. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently lined up for next week against the Cardinals.
JUNE 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Hits wall in no-decision Carrasco didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Atlanta, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
Impact The veteran righty seemed to be in control through five innings as the Mets held a 4-1 lead, but things unraveled quickly for Carrasco in the sixth after a leadoff walk was followed by back-to-back doubles. He exited after 86 pitches (52 strikes), ending his brief two-game streak of wins and quality starts. Carrasco will carry a 5.94 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 23:15 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is likely to come this weekend in Pittsburgh.
JUNE 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up second straight win Carrasco improved to 2-2 with a win over Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.
Impact Carrasco was efficient in tossing 52 of 82 pitches for a strike over six frames, and the only run he allowed came on an Edmundo Sosa solo shot. The veteran righty picked up his second straight quality start, with each outing resulting in a victory. Carrasco struggled to begin the campaign, allowing 11 earned runs across 8.2 innings over his first two starts. He's been much better since then, yielding two or fewer runs in three of his subsequent four outings and completing at least five frames in each appearance during that span.

Notches first win Carrasco (1-2) allowed a run on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 6.2 innings, earning the win Thursday over the Cubs.
Impact Carrasco was lit up in his return from an elbow injury last week, but he responded with his best and longest outing of the season. The lone run against him came on a Dansby Swanson solo home run in the first inning. Carrasco still has yet to strike out more than four batters in a start, but Thursday's outing was a step in the right direction overall. He has a 6.75 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB over 25.1 innings this season. The veteran right-hander is projected for a home start against the Phillies next week.
MAY 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tagged with five runs in return Carrasco yielded five runs on five hits and two walks over five innings during Friday's win over Cleveland. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.
Impact Carrasco stumbled out of the gate, coughing up a three-run shot to Josh Naylor in the first inning followed by another run in the second. It was Carrasco's first start since April 15 after missing the last month with an elbow injury. He's allowed at least five runs in three of his four starts this season, resulting in an unsightly 8.68 ERA. Carrasco is currently lined up to face the Cubs in Chicago next week.

Activated for Friday return Carrasco (elbow) was activated from the 15-day injured list Friday.
Impact As anticipated, Carrasco will return to the Mets' starting rotation Friday night against the Guardians after missing over a month due to a bone spur in his elbow. He threw only 52 pitches in his final minor-league rehab start Sunday with Double-A Binghamton, but that was enough to cover four scoreless frames. Looking past his rough early-season results, the veteran right-hander should be worth rostering the rest of the way in standard fantasy formats as long as his health cooperates.

Expected back Friday Carrasco (elbow) will likely return to the Mets' rotation Friday versus the Guardians, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Carrasco threw 52 pitches over four scoreless innings in his second and final minor-league rehab start Sunday with Double-A Binghamton. He's logged only 13.2 innings this year with the Mets, to the tune of an ugly 8.56 ERA, but the veteran right-hander might be able to offer better results moving forward after receiving a cortisone injection for a painful bone spur in his pitching elbow.

Impact Carrasco landed on the IL on April 16 with a swollen right elbow, with a follow-up MRI later revealing a bone spur. He could eventually require surgery to address the matter, but he opted to treat the injury with a cortisone injection and appears to have responded well since starting up his throwing program in the final week of April. He was cleared to make his first rehab start for Binghamton on Tuesday and gave up one run over three innings in the outing while building up to 46 pitches. Assuming he can push his pitch count into the 60-to-75 range Sunday, Carrasco should be stretched out enough to fill a starter's role for the Mets by the end of next week.
