INJURIES

Injures hamstring in workout Carrasco strained his right hamstring while doing conditioning work following Thursday's bullpen session, according to SNY's game broadcast.
Impact The team hasn't yet announced any further details about the injury, which came after a successful live bullpen session in the morning for Carrasco, who had been dealing with soreness in his right elbow. He's headed for an MRI, but regardless of his test results, it's now highly probable that Carrasco won't be ready for Opening Day, creating a temporary opening in the Mets' rotation.

Not expected to miss time Carrasco (elbow) is expected to be ready for his first turn in the rotation, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Carrasco hasn't yet pitched in a Grapefruit League game as he builds up cautiously due to elbow soreness. He threw a 20-pitch simulated game Thursday and should be ready to face another team soon. Opening Day is just two weeks away, so it would be somewhat surprising if he were ready to throw 100 pitches in his first regular-season start, but he should be built up to the point that he can throw a meaningful number of innings right away if he gets through the rest of the month without setbacks.

Throws simulated game Carrasco (elbow) threw a simulated game Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact Carrasco has yet to make his spring debut as he works through a spell of elbow soreness. He's been building up in his throwing progression, advancing from catch to bullpens to a simulated game, so Grapefruit League action should be on tap soon. Time is getting tight for him to be fully ramped up by Opening Day, but it remains possible that he breaks camp on the active roster.

Gets back on mound Carrasco (elbow) completed an 18-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Limited to throwing long toss off flat ground in recent days while he contends with right elbow soreness, Carrasco took a step forward in his recovery program by graduating to mound work. Assuming he came out of the bullpen session without any setbacks, Carrasco will face live batters in a simulated game Thursday. That activity would likely mark the final step before Carrasco rejoins the Mets' Grapefruit League pitching schedule.

Ramping up throwing progression Carrasco (elbow) threw from 75 feet Sunday and will throw from 90-to-120 feet Monday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Impact A short bullpen session could follow for the 33-year-old as he continues to work his way back from a bout of right elbow soreness. Carrasco hopes to be ready for Opening Day, and his progress this week should provide a strong indication of whether or not that hope can be a reality.
MARCH 14, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Will throw Sunday Carrasco (elbow) will play catch Sunday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Carrasco has been dealing with an elbow issue, one of the more worrying things for a pitcher to go through, though this particular case hasn't been called anything worse than "soreness." He's only been backed off slightly from his throwing program, as he's ready to at least play catch within a few days of when he was first shut down. If he gets through Sunday's session without issues he could get back on a mound soon, but his readiness for Opening Day could be at risk even in that best-case scenario with the start of the season less than three weeks away. He hadn't gotten into any game action this spring before the elbow issue popped up.
MARCH 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Participating in drills Saturday Carrasco (elbow) is doing some solo running drills Saturday, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Carrasco continues to be brought along slowly due to elbow soreness. Assuming he feels good after his running drills Saturday, the right-hander is scheduled to play catch Sunday and could progress to bullpens and live batting practice after that. It's not yet clear whether Carrasco's injury will impact his availability for Opening Day.
MARCH 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Could play catch Sunday Carrasco (elbow) hopes to resume playing catch Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Carrasco has been shut down recently after reporting elbow soreness, but he hasn't sounded too concerned about the issue. Manager Luis Rojas said that he could resume throwing Sunday, and the Mets are hopeful that the right-hander will be able to face hitters next week. Even if he plays catch Sunday, Carrasco will still need time to build up ahead of Opening Day, so it's not yet clear whether he'll be available to begin the year.

Dealing with elbow soreness Mets manager Luis Rojas said Wednesday that Carrasco is dealing with some soreness in his elbow and won't throw for several days, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Carrasco told the team that he's dealt with elbow soreness in the past, and Rojas said that the issue is "nothing too concerning." It's not yet clear whether his absence will impact his availability for Opening Day, but the Mets hope that he'll be able to face batters at some point next week.

Impact Carrasco missed the start of camp for undisclosed, non-injury-related reasons. He's seemingly behind the rest of the Mets' staff, but it appears as though the decision to ramp him up behind the scenes is a simple change of plans that isn't related to any sort of injury setback. Assuming no reports of an injury pop up, Carrasco should have no issues getting ready for Opening Day.

Should make spring debut this week Carrasco is expected to make his first start of spring training Friday or Saturday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 33-year-old arrived late to camp but is poised to see game action with the Mets for the first time this week. Carrasco is expected to have plenty of time to ramp up for the start of the regular season after being acquired from Cleveland in January.

Arrives at camp Carrasco (undisclosed) arrived at camp Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Carrasco missed the early part of camp for undisclosed reasons, with the Mets noting only that his absence wasn't injury-related. Whatever the reason, it's unlikely to significantly affect his readiness for Opening Day, as he still has over a month to prepare.

Unavailable for non-injury reasons Carrasco was absent from the start of the Mets' full-squad workouts Monday but is not battling an injury, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact Carrasco was one of four Mets who were away from the team for what manager Luis Rojas called "non-injury-related" reasons. All four are expected back by the end of the week, so Carrasco's preseason preparation shouldn't be significantly impacted.
