Wrist surgery after car accident Hill shared on his Instagram page that he was in a car accident Monday and needed surgery on his right wrist.

Impact It was Hill's throwing wrist that took the brunt of the damage in the car accident, but he says he will be ready for the start of the 2021 season. Everyone else involved in the car accident were OK. He logged a 4.91 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB in 18.1 innings out of the bullpen last season.

Optioned to alternate site Hill was optioned to Cleveland's alternate training site Tuesday.

Impact Hill had been on the roster since Opening Day and posted a 3.95 ERA and a 0.66 WHIP in 13.2 innings of work. He'll make way on the roster for Zach Plesac, who was recalled to start against the Royals in a corresponding move.

Impact After Brad Hand and James Karinchak were used in the first game of the doubleheader, Hill was called upon to protect a two-run lead in the second contest. He impressed, striking out the first two batters he faced, generating a combined four swinging strikes. Hill has shown the ability to miss bats in the past, as he punched out 36 batters in 24.2 innings of work at Triple-A in 2019. However, without major injuries or struggles in the Cleveland bullpen, Hill is unlikely to draw many more save opportunities this season.
