Next start pushed to weekend
Manager Brandon Hyde confirmed that Povich will make his next start during the Orioles' home series versus the Nationals this weekend, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun repor...
Impact
Povich initially lined up to start Tuesday against the Twins, but after that game was postponed, the Orioles won't have him pitch against Minnesota and will instead push his next start back a few days. Chayce McDermott will be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and is expected to make a spot start or serve as a bulk reliever in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus Minnesota to fill the gap in the rotation. As Meyer notes, being moved off of a start against a righty-heavy Twins lineup should be more favorable for the left-handed Povich, who now gets to face a Nationals lineup that typically features four lefty bats (James Wood, CJ Abrams, Nathaniel Lowe and Luis Garcia).

Yields five runs in third frame
Povich (1-3) took the loss against Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out four over six innings. He did not issue a walk.
Impact
Povich faced the minimum number of batters through the first two innings, but he got roughed up for five runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run homer by Carlos Correa. Povich went on to retire the next the next nine batters he faced and finished with 10 whiffs on 103 pitches (63 strikes), but he couldn't avoid the loss as the Twins' offense was limited to one run. It's the second time the 25-year-old southpaw has given up at least five runs in a start this season, and he's up to a 5.55 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 29:12 over 35.2 innings. Povich is slated to start against the Angels on the road this weekend.

Gives up two homers in no-decision
Povich didn't factor into Wednesday's decision against the Yankees, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings.
Impact
Povich put the Orioles behind early, when he yielded a two-run homer to Aaron Judge in the first inning. Povich steadied himself over the next three innings but was taken deep by Paul Goldschmidt in the fifth frame and was lifted from Wednesday's game two batters later. Povich has given up six home runs over his last four starts, and the 37 hits he's allowed is tied for fourth most in the American League. He's slated to face the Twins on the road next weekend.

Earns first win of 2025
Povich (1-2) earned the win against the Nationals on Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five across 6.2 innings.
Impact
Povich logged his second quality start of the season Thursday, tossing 87 pitches (60 strikes) while generating 21 first-pitch strikes to 25 batters. His lone blemish came in the second inning on a Josh Bell RBI single, but Povich rebounded to retire 11 of the last 13 batters he faced. Povich has yielded three earned runs or less in four of his five starts this season but has a 5.04 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB across 25 innings. He'll look to make it two wins in a row in his next start, tentatively slated for next week at home against Aaron Judge and the Yankees.

Gives up seven runs in loss
Povich (0-2) took the loss Friday against the Reds, allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four across 3.1 innings.
Impact
Povich had trouble keeping the ball in yard, as three home runs accounted for all seven runs against him, including a three-run shot by Matt McLain in the fourth inning that gave the Reds a six-run lead. Povich gave up more runs in Friday's loss than he had across his three prior outings (six), and he wasn't able to get through the fourth inning despite tossing 84 pitches (of which 48 were strikes). He'll look to bounce back in his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Nationals.

Allows two runs in no-decision
Povich did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with two strikeouts over 4.2 innings.
Impact
Povich delivered a solid outing on the surface, but he induced just four whiffs and was pulled with two runners on in the fifth inning at only 76 pitches. The 25-year-old has been a mixed bag, yielding three earned runs or fewer in all three of his starts but failing to complete the fifth frame twice. He owns a 3.60 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB across 15 innings on the year and lines up to face the Reds next weekend.

Lit up in loss
Povich (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Royals, allowing four runs on 13 hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out four.
Impact
The Baltimore southpaw allowed a career-worst 13 hits -- a triple, three doubles and nine singles -- as the Royals sprayed the ball around the park. Despite the hit parade, Povich tossed only 88 pitches, 61 of which were strikes, to complete this appearance. After 10.1 innings this season, the 24-year-old sports an ugly 6.10 ERA and 1.84 WHIP; however, better things may come for Povich as his FIP is 1.20 due in part to a .529 BABIP. He currently lines up to make his next start against the Blue Jays at home next weekend.
