Outrighted to Triple-A Marlowe was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday after clearing waivers.

Impact Marlowe was DFA'd by the Mariners this past Monday in order to make room on the 40-man roster for Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe wasn't claimed off waivers, so he'll remain in Seattle's organization and will head to Triple-A for the start of the 2025 campaign. He spent most of the 2024 season with Tacoma, where he slashed .235/.341/.395 with 43 stolen bases, 13 home runs and 45 RBI over 411 plate appearances.

Scrubbed from 40-man roster The Mariners designated Marlowe for assignment Monday, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.

Impact Seattle needed to free up a spot on its 40-man roster for the addition of Jorge Polanco (knee). Marlowe, 27, has slashed .240/.330/.406 with three homers and four steals over 109 plate appearances at the major-league level over the last two seasons. He could draw some interest on waivers.

Optioned to Tacoma The Mariners optioned Marlowe to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Impact Marlowe has appeared in eight games since making his MLB debut July 23, going 2-for-8 with a walk and a run scored. He'll now be sent back to the minors, as the Mariners will opt to boost their infield depth by recalling Ryan Bliss from Tacoma.

Singles as in-game replacement Marlowe entered Sunday's loss to the Phillies as a defensive replacement in right field in the ninth inning and went 1-for-1.

Impact The rookie led off the home half of the ninth for the Mariners and delivered his first hit since July 23, the initial game of his current big-league tenure. Marlowe received his promotion from Triple-A Tacoma following the placement of Julio Rodriguez (ankle) and J.P. Crawford (finger) on the injured list, but he's logged only eight plate appearances across seven games since arriving in Seattle.

Reaches twice in '24 debut Marlowe, called up from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, went 1-for-2 with a walk in a loss to the Angels on Tuesday.

Impact Marlowe was making his 2024 big-league debut and started in right field as part of the domino effect of Julio Rodriguez's (ankle) placement on the injured list. The 27-year-old Marlowe posted a solid .239/.330/.420 slash line across his first 100 major-league plate appearances a season ago, and he'd been having a relatively solid season with Tacoma from an OBP perspective (.341) while also dazzling to the tune of 43 stolen bases. However, strikeouts have been a fairly persistent issue for Marlowe throughout his pro career, so it remains to be seen if that will continue to serve as a drag on his overall numbers against the highest level of competition.

Impact Marlowe was last seen in the majors in the second half of the 2023 season when he slashed .239/.330/.420 with three homers. He has slashed .235/.341/.395 in Triple-A with 13 home runs in 2024.

Impact Marlowe was reasonably effective during his first taste of the majors last season, posting a .239/.330/.420 slash line with eight extra-base hits (three doubles, two triples, three home runs), 11 RBI and four stolen bases among his contributions. The 26-year-old, who's capable of slotting in across the outfield, had opened spring training in a brief 0-for-6 skid before Thursday's breakout.

Impact Marlowe will move off the Mariners' 28-man active roster to clear room for Jarred Kelenic (foot), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. While Kelenic had been sidelined since July 20 with the foot injury, Marlowe enjoyed about a month-long run as the Mariners' primary left fielder, but he had faded into more of a fourth- or fifth-outfielder role in recent weeks.
