Impact Posey started the first two games of the year and didn't show any hints of rust after opting out of the 2020 season, homering in each contest. The Giants don't want to push the veteran catcher too hard to start the year, however, so Curt Casali will take over behind the plate Saturday.

Impact For the second straight game, Posey went deep early in the contest, this time knocking a solo blast in the third inning. The 2012 NL MVP was a bit of a forgotten entity after opting out of last season, but he has started the 2021 campaign strong with a long ball in each of his first two contests. Posey hit only seven homers across 445 at-bats in 2019, so it remains to be seen if his season-opening power surge is sustainable.

Impact Posey made his mark early in the game, going yard in the second inning. The 34-year-old catcher opted out of the shortened 2020 season, so this was a solid return to action after not playing a regular-season game since September of 2019. That year, he slashed .257/.320/.368 with seven homers, 38 RBI and 43 runs scored in 114 games, but he's been on the downhill of his career for a couple of seasons now.
