Placed on IL The Rays placed Lowe on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a fractured right patella, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Impact After fouling a ball off his knee Thursday, Lowe is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks as a result of his injury, making a return this season unlikely even if the Rays advance to the World Series. Raimel Tapia will come up from Triple-A Durham to fill Lowe's roster spot.

Diagnosed with fractured kneecap Lowe will be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks after being diagnosed Friday with a fractured right kneecap, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Suns reports.

Impact Lowe suffered the injury when he fouled a ball hard into his knee Thursday against the Blue Jays. He's done for the remainder of the regular season and seems doubtful to return in the postseason, even if the Rays make a run all the way to the World Series. The power-hitting second baseman finishes with a .231/.328/.443 batting line, 21 home runs and 68 RBI across 109 games.

Impact Lowe was reportedly walking around with a noticeable limp Friday after injuring his knee during Thursday's win over the Angels. Isaac Paredes will start at second base Friday with Curtis Mead at third, and more should be known about Lowe's injury in the near future.
