Matt Barnes - Shifts to 60-day IL Barnes (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Barnes has been sidelined since May 31 due to fluid buildup in his right shoulder, and he now won't be eligible to return until the end of July. The 32-year-old recently began a rehab assignment with the Red Sox's rookie-level FCL affiliate, and he'll continue building up over the next couple weeks. He had a 7.94 ERA over 17 innings prior to the injury, so the extended rehab stint will also given him a chance to iron out his issues.

Connor Wong - Heading back to minors Wong was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact The 26-year-old was up in the majors the past few days but will quickly return to the minors with Kevin Plawecki back from the COVID-19 injured list. Wong is 1-for-7 with an RBI and two strikeouts in his eight big-league games this year.

Kevin Plawecki - Back from COVID-19 IL Plawecki (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Plawecki landed on the COVID-19 IL earlier this week but was able to quickly clear the protocols and rejoin the team. Now that he's available, the 31-year-old will reclaim backup duties behind starting catcher Christian Vazquez. Connor Wong was optioned to Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move.
