Bo Bichette is activated from the IL and in the Blue Jays' lineup for the first time since July 19

Two-time All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette has been activated from the injured list and returned to the Toronto Blue Jays’ lineup for the first time since July 19
SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 • Associated Press
Returns from IL The Blue Jays reinstated Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
Impact Bichette went 4-for-14 with two RBI and a run scored across four games during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo. With a .595 OPS, the 25-year-old infielder is enduring his worst season at the plate over his six-year MLB career, but he figures to reclaim his role as Toronto's everyday shortstop now that he's healthy. Will Wagner (knee) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Beginning rehab assignment Tuesday Manager John Schneider said Friday that the plan is for Bichette (calf) to join Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact Bichette is expected to need 4-5 games with the affiliate before he's cleared to rejoin the big-league roster. Sidelined since mid-July with a right calf strain, Bichette has been able to run the bases several times this week and will remain with the Blue Jays in Atlanta through the weekend. He's in the midst of a down year with a .222/.275/.320 line through 80 games and there are questions about his future in Toronto.

Closing in on rehab assignment Bichette (calf) ran the bases Monday and will do so again Wednesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact It's a big step as he works his way back from a right calf strain which initially cropped up nearly two months ago. Bichette will travel with the Blue Jays to Atlanta this weekend to continue ramping things up and is expected to be ready for a rehab assignment soon. He's tracking toward a return by mid-September.

Works out at Fenway Park Bichette (calf) is with the Blue Jays on their road trip and fielded grounders at Fenway Park on Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact Bichette will continue to work out with the team on its road trip before eventually heading out on a rehab assignment. It does not sound as if rehab games are imminent, however, so the shortstop probably won't be back until at least mid-September. He's been shelved since ate July with a moderate right calf strain.

Resumes running Manager John Schneider said Thursday that Bichette (calf) has resumed running at the team's complex in Florida, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bichette had been limited to hitting and fielding drills over the past several days, but his return to running marks a significant checkpoint in his recovery from a right calf strain. He's slated to join the Blue Jays in Boston on Monday and travel with the team during their road trip, after which he could potentially head to the minor leagues on a rehab assignment.

Expected to resume running soon Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that he expects Bichette (calf) to begin running in 2-to-3 days, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bichette recently resumed hitting and fielding drills at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Florida and is almost ready to take another big step when he starts up a running program. If he shows he can run without issue, a rehab assignment would figure to be around the corner. Bichette has been shelved since late July with a moderate right calf strain.

Resumes baseball activities Bichette (calf) has resumed baseball activities at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Florida, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bichette will remain in Florida for a while to ramp things back up before a potential rehab assignment is discussed, so he looks to be multiple weeks away from a return. The shortstop has been sidelined since late July with a moderate right calf strain. Leo Jimenez has been filling in at shortstop for the Blue Jays.

Yet to resume baseball activities Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Friday that Bichette (calf) is "progressing well" but has yet to resume baseball activities since landing on the injured list July 20, MLB.com...
Impact Bichette is closing in on the one-month mark in his recovery from a moderate right calf strain, and though he seems to be healing as anticipated, he hasn't demonstrated much in the way of tangible progress in the recovery process. The Blue Jays haven't provided a timeline for Bichette's return from the shelf, but since he hasn't resumed baseball activities and will eventually need to complete a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated, he wouldn't seem likely to rejoin the Toronto lineup until at least late August.

To miss multiple weeks An MRI on Saturday revealed Bichette's right calf strain to be moderate, and he'll miss multiple weeks due to the injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bichette strained his calf Friday for the second time this month and was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Saturday. However, further testing revealed the injury will require a multi-week absence, keeping the star shortstop sidelined into August. In his stead, Leo Jimenez should handle most of the shortstop work, though Addison Barger and Ernie Clement could mix in at the position.

Lands on injured list The Blue Jays placed Bichette on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right calf strain, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bichette didn't land on the injured list after straining his calf July 10, but after suffering the same injury just nine days later, he'll now hit the IL in order to properly recover. Addison Barger was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move, though it will be Leo Jimenez starting most days at shortstop while Bichette is sidelined.

Absent from Saturday's lineup Bichette (calf) isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.
Impact Bichette left Friday's contest early after straining his right calf for the second time this month, and he's slated to undergo an MRI to determine whether his injury is severe enough to warrant a trip to the injured list. Leo Jimenez will start at shortstop instead Saturday and would likely continue to do so should Bichette end up on the IL.
