Closing in on throwing program Castano (pectoral) is expected to begin a throwing program next week, MLB.com reports.

Impact Castano will need more than a week to build up as he works his way back from a right pectoral strain, so he doesn't appear to be in line to return from the 15-day injured list until after the All-Star break. Before landing on the shelf June 21, Castano turned in a 3.92 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 20.2 innings over 10 appearances out of the Colorado bullpen.

Impact Castano will be eligible to return from the shelf July 3, but given the nature of his injury, he may need more than the minimum amount of time on the IL to make a full recovery. The 26-year-old had been occupying a low-leverage role in the Colorado bullpen since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 21, recording one win and no holds or saves while pitching to a 3.93 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 18.1 innings in nine appearances.

Called up Thursday Castano was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.

Impact Castano will return to the big-league club just a few days after being sent down to Albuquerque on Monday. The right-hander will replace Sammy Peralta in the Rockies' bullpen after Peralta was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Impact Castano was brought up to the big leagues Sunday and allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.1 frames against the Diamondbacks. He'll return to Triple-A where he'll serve as organizational bullpen depth.

Impact Castano was called up to serve as Colorado's 27th man ahead of Sunday's pair of contests in New York, but he didn't appear in either victory. The right-hander will now return to the Triple-A level where he's posted a 1.23 ERA and 0.68 WHIP with five strikeouts over seven appearances with Triple-A Tacoma and Triple-A Albuquerque so far this year.

Promoted for doubleheader The Rockies recalled Castano from Triple-A Albuquerque to serve as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Impact Castano was claimed off waivers by Colorado on Tuesday and will now receive his first look in the majors with his new organization. The right-hander has allowed one earned run over 7.1 innings at Triple-A between Albuquerque and Seattle's affiliate in Tacoma.
