Heading to Albuquerque Colorado optioned Castano to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Impact Castano made five appearances with the big-league club since being called up Sept. 1. Through 6.2 innings, the 28-year-old posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 4:3 K:BB. The Rockies reinstated Kyle Freeland (neck), forcing the team to remove Castano from the active roster.

Impact Castano has logged a 3.92 ERA and 17:6 K:BB across 20.2 innings with the Rockies this season. The 27-year-old is likely to be used as a multi-inning reliever in Colorado.

Set to join big club Castano is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday when rosters expand, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Impact Castano worked to a 3.93 and 1.36 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 18.1 innings (nine appearances) during his last stint in the big leagues. He'll likely be asked to provide support out of the bullpen once his promotion becomes official Tuesday.

Impact Castano has been on the injured list since late June due to a pectoral strain. Now fully healthy, the 27-year-old will remain in Triple-A for the time being but could return to the majors later in the year as bullpen depth.
