He's starting to find his way at the plate, hitting safely in five straight games, going 5-for-19 (.263) in that span. Impact Hays started the past five games after missing four contests with a laceration on his hand, and he went 5-for-21 with two doubles, two walks, two RBI and four runs since rejoining the lineup. Trey Mancini will move to the outfield Sunday while Adley Rutchman serves as the designated hitter.

Doubles twice in three-hit effort Hays went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.
Impact Hays was at the center of the Orioles' two-run sixth inning. He knocked in Cedric Mullins with a double before scoring on Trey Mancini's fielder's choice. Hays was out from last Friday to Monday due to a laceration on his left hand, which has forced him to wear a batting glove since he returned to the lineup Tuesday. The outfielder had gone 0-for-17 in his prior five games before busting out of the slump Wednesday. He's now slashing .296/.364/.456 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and 10 doubles through 34 contests. He'll likely resume a starting role in the corner outfield now that he's in good enough shape to play.

Cleared to rejoin lineup Hays (hand) will start in left field and bat second in Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Hays was on the bench for each of the Orioles' last four games while managing a cut on his left hand, but he got the green light to rejoin the lineup Tuesday after coming out of Monday's batting practice session no worse for the wear. The 26-year-old may have to wear some extra protection on his hand while batting over the next several days, but the injury doesn't sound like anything that will force additional absences.

Could be back Tuesday or Wednesday Manager Brandon Hyde said he's hopeful Hays (hand) rejoins the lineup Tuesday or Wednesday against the Yankees, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hays is on the bench for Monday's series opener with New York, marking his fourth consecutive absence due to the left hand laceration. On a fortunate note, Hays was able to take batting practice earlier in the day, though the typically bare-handed-hitting outfielder wore a glove to protect his left hand during the hitting session. The Orioles will presumably check back in on Hays early Tuesday before deciding if he's fit to rejoin the lineup later that night.
MAY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Still sidelined Hays (hand) remains on the bench for Monday's game against the Yankees, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Hays has been out since getting cleated in the left hand Thursday against the Cardinals. His swelling has subsided and he'll take some swings, per Kubatko, but he still needs at least one more day before returning to the lineup. Ryan McKenna will make another start in left field.

Needs swelling to decrease Hays (hand) is hoping to get back to more baseball activities Monday, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact His range of motion is better Sunday and he threw Saturday without a glove on. Hays' swelling will need to decrease in the coming days for him to return to action and avoid a stint on the injured list, but we should know more after he tests his hand Monday.
MAY 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Still out Sunday Hays (hand) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Tigers, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Impact He suffered a laceration on the back of his left hand after getting cleated in Thursday's game and Hays has been absent from the lineup all weekend as a result. Ryan McKenna picks up the start in left field.
